  1. Enable embedding fund balance graphs and data on Alma Home Screen

Fund balance data from Analytics is inaccurate as data is piped in to Analytics on a daily basis, making fund balance widgets created in Analytics less useful for checking available balances. We would like to request the ability to quickly access up-to-the moment fund and available balances available under each fund under Acquisitions > Funds and Ledgers > Fund > Reports in home page widgets. This would enable staff placing order to check live fund balances easily on a regular basis.

  2. Changing or moving the "Add all Portfolios from Community" button in Electronic Collections

When adding a new portfolio to an existing electronic collection there are several options. Two of these options are "Add Portfolios from Community" and "Add All Portfolios from Community". These options sit beside each other and are the same colour and design. The only difference between them is the word "all". 5 times in the last twelve months we have had the experience where separate operators have selected the "Add All Portfolios from Community" in error when they really only wanted to import a single record. The result has been that Alma commenced to import tens of thousands of records…

  3. Tools/Excel results need to include holdings ID(s) and item ID(s).

The ability of Alma to export search results to an Excel spreadsheet is one of its strong features. In order to remove the necessity of still having to run an Analytics report, all such Excel spreadsheets need to include the holdings ID(s), holdings permanent location(s), and item ID(s), in order to present a clear and full picture of the extent of the holdings of a given title. This is analogous to the Hierarchy in Voyager which was incredibly useful to us--the Excel with the additional information will be even more useful and efficient than the hierarchy has been since it…

  4. Make Paying Fines/Fees-Waiving Fines/Fees a separate User Role in Alma and remove them from other roles

The auditors at our institution require us to limit the number of staff members who have this ability. We had to ask Ex Libris to remove PAYFINESFEES PRIVILEGE and WAIVEFINESFEES_PRIVILEGE from a large number of roles, most of which didn't even relate to fulfillment responsibilities during our implementation.

Our Student Assistants and Operators at the Circulation Desks should not have these privileges. But they did before we had them removed.

Approving Manager and Operator, Producer Manager, User Manager, Editor Full, Assessing Manager and Operator, Arranging Operator and Manager are all roles that I don't understand, and…

  5. Limit physical holding by year in the getit frame

Using the Primo service page, when we have print holdings for a journal the requested article is from, but not for the article date, we still see print holdings which are not related and confusing to our users.

I would expect to either not see the print holdings or have it be clear that these are not for the requested item (like having to click "more" to see them).

  6. Add the source field to Analytics

It would be useful to be able to report on the Source field from Resource Sharing requests in the Borrowing Request subject area of Analytics. Then we could analyse the channels that users' Resource Sharing requests are coming in from.

  7. Analytics: Retain the External ID even when the item is canceled in Resource Sharing

Retain the External ID even when the item is canceled in Resource Sharing.

Retain the Ex ID even if the item is canceled. The reason we would like the Ex ID is because it is a patterned identifier and that makes it easy to limit down, where to us the internal ID is just a string of random numbers. Our goal is to be able to run reports on either the Lending or Borrowing Request subject areas in one set. If we need to run some on Ex ID to get the Borrowing and Lending sides to match up and…

  8. Ability to Block Loan Status Notice based on Loan Status

Ability to Block Loan Status Notice based on TOU
The process for blocking the loan status notice (FullItemChangeDueDateLetter) should be more flexible. Currently, it's sent whenever a request is submitted for any item checked out by a particular user group, whether that item is recallable or not. It's unnecessary and confusing to receive a recall notice when the due date isn't being changed.

  9. Include renewal override prompt when using "Renew selected" or "Renew all".

Include prompt for override when using "Renew selected" or"Renew all" button in Patron services if the item's renewal is not allowed by TOU.
Override prompt only occurs when item is re-loaned by entering the barcode.

  10. Provide visual representation of funds and fund structure "tree"-style, not "results-list"-style w/details in tiny text.

Voyager does this well - a tree structure like Windows, showing the hierarchy and relationship of funds to each other. Voyager also has color and shape indicators to show what kind of fund at a glance, and lays out the allocations, commitments (aka encumbrances), expenditures, and balances in a clear way, grouped, and with space around -- not in tiny text all jammed into a little entry you have to squint to make out which bit you need. Please. Seriously -- visual representation of funds and fund structure.

  11. Maintain patron information with missing items

When a patron places a request for an in place item, but the item is not located, we toggle the missing status for the item. This disconnects it from the patron record. It needs to remain attached so when the item is located it can still be held for the patron.

  12. Ability to change item's Material Type while in process

We would like the ability to change an item's Material Type while the item is in process. Currently, Alma does not allow this unless the item is in place. If the item is in process, we get the error message, "The item is not in place and there are requests registered for this item. Please handle the requests before moving or updating this item." Incorrect material type is part of the reason the item was sent to processing, so it seems strange the change cannot be made while the item is there.

  13. Request to drop to next item when previous is made Missing

If an item is requested but can't be found and therefore toggled to Missing, the physical item request remains unfulfilled and cannot be fulfilled by another copy of that title. Either staff get an option to drop the request to the next available/eligible item, or that is done automatically, or both those options.

  14. Ability to use import profiles on OCLC Connexion exported records

Currently import profiles can applied to Marc files that are uploaded into Alma. One can use the import profile to specify match methods, tell Alma how to deal with matches of existing and incoming records (overlay, merge, or use NZ record), and also specify inventory info to map the Marc 949 field to holdings and item records. Although the OCLC Connexion integration profile deals with importing records it lacks the features described in the previous sentence. Please see screenshot of settings in Oclc integration profile versus in an import profile.

Basically we would like the ability to specify an import…

  15. Add series titles to Alma letters

Some items are more easily identified by there series titles than by the title of the actual volume. But the series title is not exported in the xml of the letters.
(Series title is in the 8xx $$t fields of the bib record).
This would help to send more meaningful letters to our patrons.

  16. Bulk Recall by Staff

Currently in ALMA, an item can only be recalled by request. While we do not allow our patrons to recall items from other patrons, we do, on occasion, need to recall items from patrons for course reserves.

It appears that there is no way, either with the Scan in Items feature, or by uploading an excel spreadsheet, to indicate by barcode a number of items that need to be recalled, submit the recall, and truncate the due date of the patrons to which those items are currently loaned.

If we could have a functionality like this that not only recalls…

  17. Change the pick up location when an item is "On Hold Shelf"

When an item is "On hold shelf" (in a library A), by clicking on "Edit", we can change (only in Alma fortunately) the pick up location (to the library B for example).

It's a good option, useful when a user has made a mistake and would like to change the pick up location.
In Alma, currently, when you use this option (so edit > change the pick up location", there is no notification to the library A (livrary A have to send the book to library B).
So, in the patron folder, the pick-up location is B (as the user's…

  19. Create a parser parameter for 'domain' that can be used in Dynamic URLs

We have electronic services that comprise portfolios from multiple publishers, and the portfolio URLs link to the publishers' websites rather than a common platform. Currently, this means that Alma can only link to the journal level, unless we edit each individual portfolio to use a Dynamic URL. However, because the structure of the URLs after the domain is consistent, we would be able to apply a single, article-level Dynamic URL at the Service level if Alma had a parser parameter we could use in place of the domain. Here is the URL format with a couple of examples:

    http://{domain}/content/{rft.volume}/{rft.issue}/{rft.spage}
    http://www.eje-online.org/content/176/3/349

  20. [Alma] - export items job - csv format - always add / embed in double quotes as text qualifiers / delimiters

Right now in Alma, when running a job to export a set of Items in csv format, double quotes are added only to values containing commas (see attached example).
Which is not wrong at all, but it would be much better (e.g. for postprocessing the file in a text editor or using regex) if the double quotes were always added by default in the .csv format.
    For example, right now is.
    03149898,Machine à lettres,MeMo,Book,"Magnani, Julien",AM 22800
but it would be much easier to process if it were:
    "03149898","Machine à lettres","MeMo","Book","Magnani, Julien","AM 22800".
