  1. Hold shelf request slip letter - new regex code table to create pickup number based on internal identifier for Resource sharing requests?

In 2018, a new letter for hold shelf items was introduced thanks to this idea exchange (https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/32042020-new-letter-for-hold-shelf-slips) It has been very helpful in managing physical item requests, since the letter is customizable.

We see that improving this letter to also include pickup numbers for resource sharing requests/physical non-returnable. Since these requests do not get a Request ID which then becomes the Additional ID - but rather an Internal ID – the letter could be improved to include a portion of the Internal ID as the pickup number.

For instance, a RS request has the internal ID 4177325980002286. Following…

  2. Copyright Work Percentage Rule

It should be possible to apply the Copyright Work Percentage Rule for:
    1. Patron Digitization Requests
    2. RS Borrowing requests

    And not just for:
    1. Staff Digitization Requests
    2. Library Physical Digitization Requests

  3. Communicate edited AFN request details back to user's library, for inclusion in next ROTA stop.

In our Automated Fulfillment Network (AFN), we are using the "volume" field in the resource sharing request form as the way users can indicate which volume(s) of a multi-volume set they wish to request from another AFN member institution. These requests are title level requests.

(I'll note: We are not currently using the "description field" selection option in the request form, since upon last testing, it treated, for example, a "v. 2" as a different item than a "v.2" or a "V. 2" or a "2" when building the rota, and our consortium has too much variability right now in…

  4. Enhance the locate profile for ISSN and Article Locate

The current locate profile is able to locate Journals via ISSN but that fails to take account of publication years. Can we look to enhance the article locate function to take into account ISSN, YEAR and VOLUME.

An example of a current issue we have is, a user requests an article with the ISSN 1234-1234 and the year 2020, the locate profile will currently match on institutions ISSN holdings only, so requests end up going to institutions that may have that Journal but not the year that the article is for.

  5. Allow staff to override auto return when a borrowing request is received after needed by date has passed or request has been cancelled

When a borrowing library receives a resource sharing item after the request's needed by date has passed, Alma automatically updates the request to returned without displaying any alert. This causes a substantial amount of confusion for staff. We would like Alma to display an alert when a resource sharing item is being automatically returned to the lender because it was received after the request's needed by date. We would also like the opportunity to override this automatic return so users can have the option of using the item.

Likewise, Alma automatically updates borrowing reqeusts to returned when they've been cancelled…

  8. Allow conditionals and general messages to be sent to and received from ILLiad ISO resource sharing partners

The SUNY system has started sending resource sharing borrowing requests dircectly to a non-SUNY library's ILLiad via an ISO ILLiad resource sharing partner. Things are going well for the most part, but we're unable to pass general messages to ILLiad, and we're unable to receive conditional messages from ILLiad. Could you please work with Atlas Systems on allowing these messages to be passed between systems?

  9. Borrowing requests: comment (from Primo) should not be transferred to request note field but to the Note field

The content of the comment (from Primo) was transferred to the "Request Note" field (=Request Attributes).
We didn't want that to happen.
The content should go into the "Note" field (=Resource Information).

  11. New Hold Shelf Request Slip Letter for Physical non-returnable

The current hold shelf request slip letter only handles regular RS requests (books etc), but is not generated when a RS request is created and received as physical non-returnable.

We would like to see an improved functionality to support this material type, so a slip is created as with any other request that are placed on hold shelf. It could either be an improvement to the existing letter, or a new letter entirely.

  12. Add "Job category" in the expandable requester's info label in the RS request.

We would like to have a requester's "Job category" (Department) listed in the expandable requester's info label in the RS request (see the picture attached).
When a request is unfilled the Document Delivery staff send a notification message to the relevant department mailbox straight from the request via “Send query to patron”.
Currently, we must open the requester's account to find out their department then go back to the request to send a message. This is very inconvenient.
It would be useful to make the label modifiable to let a library to create the label by selecting only parameters necessary…

  13. Ability to edit barcode after receiving borrowing request

Sometimes after receiving a borrowing request, we have a need to change the barcode. This could be because the wrong barcode was scanned in, the barcode is not responsive or another reason. However, there is currently no way to change the barcode in the borrowing request record. Staff can update the item barcode (and we do) however this doesn't affect the original barcode that was scanned in against the borrowing request. We therefore have to add a lot of physical and electronic notes to the front desk staff and to the staff who will be returning the item to the…

  14. Allow lending RS locate process to fail if it cannot determine which volume from a multi-volume set is being requested

Currently, Alma's lending locate process will automatically select a single volume from a multi-volume set if it can't determine which specific volume is being requested in a title level lending reqeust. It often selects the incorrect volume, and that error is rarely caught before the incorrect volume arrives at the borrowing library. It would be very helpful if the lending locate process failed in these scenarios rather. That would give library staff the opportunity to manually review the reqeust and select the correct volume.

  15. When printing a shipping slip, you should always have the option of selecting "quick print" in case the receipt printer isn't functional.

"Quick print" allows you to print the slip from a regular printer, but this option isn't always available. I've been typing the information the borrowing library will need in a Word document and sending that along with the book. It's impossible to generate a barcode this way, of course.

  16. Add "Date needed by" to Resource Sharing Borrowing Request page display

When first opening the "Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests" page, Alma shows a list of the first 20 requests by default; each request has various pieces of information, including the item's title, format, external identifier, creation date, etc. Each request also has an "Other details" button which reveals additional information like chapter title, volume, call number, etc.

However, neither the main information nor the "other details" fields show the request's "Date Needed By", which is part of the item's request form which the user fills out. The only way to view this information is by clicking "Edit" on the request, which…

  17. Lending requests - requests shipped as physical non-returnable should automatically get status Request Completed

Now when there is an lending request in Alma and we choose the option "Ship non-returnable" then such request gets a status "Shipped physically". We suggest that such request should automatically get status "Request Completed" because it was shipped and such request is completed according to our workflow.

  19. Block lenders from updating expired lending requests to shipped

Alma currently allows libraries to ship lending resource sharing requests even after they expire. This can occasionally create extremely confusing situations where the borrowing library receives multiple items from multiple libraries for the same lending request. Unfortunately, Alma completes both the borrowing and lending request when the lender who let the reqeust expire receives the item they shipped back from the lender. The only way to fix a problem like this is to delete the original reqeust at all three libraries and then create a brand new request. Can you please have Alma block any attempt to update a lending…

  20. Allow AFN resource sharing requests filled outside the AFN to be delivered to the user's preferred pickup institution

If a user in an AFN requests that a resource sharing item be delivered to an institution other than their home institution, the request must be filled within the AFN in order for the user's preferred pickup institution choice to be honored. If it is filled by an institution outside the AFN, the preferred pickup institution reverts to the user's home institution, and the user is never notified of this change until the item is placed on hold at their home institution. Instead of placing these items on hold at the user's home institution, we would like Alma to put…
