  1. Show main library copies first and remote storage second regardless of copies number

    We suggest to add an option to always show in Primo the main library copies first, and the remote storage second, regardless of the copies number

  2. Add Fulfillment "Hold Shelf Period" option for total days (rather than only offering open days)

    An Alma Institution might have more than one library, and those libraries may have different operating calendars (such as, a branch library may only be open 5 days a week, while, the main library may be open 7 days a week).

    It would be more consistent for that institution's patrons if it was possible to have the option to set the "Hold Shelf Period" to be for total days, rather than only having the option for "open days."

    Similarly for institutions in a consortium using the AFN, where there are consortially mandated policies for linked users, being able to set…

  3. Enable the ability to make an item missing that has a process type

    In order to mark an item 'missing' it currently has to have a status of 'item in place'. However, many items that have a status of 'item not in place' need to be marked as missing. If an item gets lost in transit from one library to another or has a process type of technical migration and cannot be found, those items need to be marked as missing.

    The current process requires that these items be checked in so they do not have a process type before they can be made missing. This seems counter intuitive to check in an…

  4. When saving stay on same page and all tabs to be available to edit from start

    Currently when a barcode is inserted in a item record (or a URL in an electronic portfolio e.g. for an ebook), it saves automatically and leaves the page immediately, but we may still want to add further information, so it would be preferable for this not to happen.

    Also, the items notes and statistical fields do not exist as another tab and therefore cannot be added to until the first page of the item record is completed and saved. All tabs should be available to be filled in from the very beginning.

  5. Limit use of material types by specific library

    The list of material types used across our consortium is very long. Even though we have turned off those that we don't use, we still have a list of about 65. For most of our libraries, this is overkill, as locations like our Chemistry library only use 4 or 5 at most. Catalogers have to use the full list, which increases the chance of confusion or clicking on the wrong thing for even straightforward cataloging. I want to be able to restrict the material types that can be used at any particular library. This was a feature of another ILS…

  6. Sorting on Physical Items Labels Job

    When you run the job named "Export Physical Items Labels", you cant select the order by field on the xml file that ALMA gave you. This is a problem when you take that xml file and with Biaf system print the Labels. For example if you print 100 or 200 Labels you have to search phisically, label by label for paste it on the books.

  7. Rename topmost Cancel button on Resource Request Monitoring screen

    When the Resource Request Monitoring screen has been reached by clicking on a request in a persistent search result, the user is presented with multiple invitations to “Cancel”:

    • One next to the Edit and the “…” buttons for each request,
    • One on a button further up the screen, above the Export List and Manage Column Display icons.

    This can be misleading for staff, especially those less experienced, as it infers that two options called the same thing would perform the same task if either were clicked upon. The Cancel button furthest up the screen, however, does of course serve the…

  8. Improve the export to excel from the physical item records search list

    When I export a set of physical item records from Alma to Excel, the Type / Creator / Imprint all end up in one field (column). This means that I can't easily sort by Author name. Please separate these data points into their own columns when exporting for easier manipulation in Excel.

  9. Add a Donor field to the physical item record.

    Adding a "Donor" field to the item record would make it easier to track and manage items that are given to the library by a specific donor and reduce multiple Local 591 fields. This information could also then be displayed more prominently in PRIMO. With the donor attached to the actual item, it would help Special Collections departments.

  10. Reduce the number of clicks when editing holdings from item screen

    From the edit item screen, if you click into the holdings and edit the holdings and save, you need to click the BACK button several times before you get back to the item screen. This adds so much time to a simple process. Can this be considered in the Alma UX improvement? Thanks

  11. Prevent choosing an invalid item policy when editing a physical item

    When editing the information for a physical item you have the option to select an item policy that overrides the default fulfillment rules for the chosen location. The drop-down list shows all item policies available in the system, regardless if we have configured any corresponding exception rule or not. As we have several item policies that should only be used for specific locations this leads to confusion and mistakes. It is too easy to unknowingly set an invalid item policy without any warning from the system.

    We suggest that the drop-down list of item policies should only display policies that…

  12. Display all holdings for physical items in the search results page

    Currently you can only display a maximum of 5 holdings in the search results page. It would be good to be able to see all holdings in the search results page without additional clicks needed.

  13. Allow user to specify "Do not pick from shelf" when using the Add Physical Item workflow

    When you create an item for loan as part of the circulation desk workflow (via Fulfillment > Manage Patron Services > Create Item and choosing New), an Acquisition Technical Services work order is created, and Alma assumes (correctly) that the item is in hand.

    When you use the manual item creation process (via Resources > Add Physical Item and choosing New), Alma creates a work order without asking if the item is in hand, and assumes (incorrectly) that the item needs to be picked from the shelf.

    When you create a work order from a physical item search, you have…

  14. When entering periodicals, I can only choose a precise date under "Issue date". This is not working for all periodicals

    Not all periodicals have precise issue dates. Some are seasonal (like Fall, winter, Spring and Summer), some are by quarters (1st quarter, 2nd quarter...) some have are weekly issues, ... Alma doesn't give the choice for these particular periodicals.

    We need more date options to reflect the issue's period. Even something like Issue date: From X date to Y date, would be more accurate than what the date option actually offered in Alma right now.

  15. Seperate the price and currency in Item's inventory price

    The field Inventory price field in physical item contains price and currency while Alma copies price from POL to item. Please seperate the currency into anohter field and make sure the price field is numeric. In this way, the Inventory price field can be counted directly.

  16. Item Material Type master List lacking several types

    The master list of Item Material Types is lacking three types commonly used by Special Collections cataloging. Please add Archival material, Broadside, and Poster to the master Item Material Types list.

  17. Add suppress functionality to context menu in list of holdings

    When a staff member is looking at a list of holdings for a physical title, the right-click context menu / actions (ellipsis) menu should include a function to suppress holding.

    It's inefficient to have to enter the MDE to complete this action. It's inefficient to have to run a job for just a few holdings at a time.

  18. We want to enable a user with Physical Inventory Operator role to run the job of “Change Physical Items

    Background:
    We want to enable a user with Physical Inventory Operator role to run the job of “Change Physical Items”. According to Alma doc, following roles can run the job:
    * Repository Manager,
    * Repository Administrator,
    * Physical Inventory Operator
    However, despite Repository Manager and Repository Administrator can run the job, Physical Inventory Operator does not have the option run any job. Besides, we only want the user to run the job of “Change Physical Items” but no others.
    Request:
    * Fix the incorrect right settings on Physical Inventory Operator. Let them have the right to run the job of…

  19. Fix Enum and Chron concatenation function in item editor and description templates

    When editing/adding and item and entering Enumeration and Chronology information for serials, there is a function to "generate" (concatenate) a description of the issue. For some reason, it ignores the "Chronology J" field in this operation, and it should include it.

  20. Link licenses to physical resources

    Allow physical resources to have an attached license similar to electronic resources.

    For example, a DVD may have specific educational and/or screening rights that we would like to save as a license and link to the DVD.
