  2. Add the ability to manually sort physical item records within a location

    The current physical item sorting options mean that in many cases records cannot be sorted into the correct order. Adding to the existing automated sorting options will help in some cases but not in others.

    The only way to be certain that item records can be correctly sorted is to add the ability to manually sort physical items within a particular location (i.e. that are linked to a particular holdings record).

  3. Add "Edit" button to item records from viewing, like holdings and bib records have.

    When viewing bib and holding records, there is a link to edit mode that takes you into the metadata editor. If you are viewing an item record and realize that you would like to change it, you have to cancel, go back to the list of items, and then select edit from the action menu.

    It would be handy to have an edit button on item record when viewing it, even though that isn't in the metadata editor.

  4. It would be helpful to have small checkboxes in the holdings records next to each line item

    It would be helpful to be able to delete or move multiple line items in a holdings record at the same time as we are able to do in the inventory records. A line at a time is very time consuming when we transfer large numbers of items from one library to another.

  5. Add Material Type column to Item List

    It would be great if we could see the item Material Type when we are in the Items List.

    Can we add an item Material Type column? If people don't want to see it they can eliminate from view.

    This is especially helpful when there are multiple item material types with the same call number, location, and no Description. If we had a Material Type column we could tell right away which item was which material type.

    It would be great to alter the material type of items whilst they item is still on loan, so that an item with a material type of "none" could become a book.

  7. Leave Library and Location blank using Browse Shelf Listing within the Metadata Editor

    The August update allows Alma to limit Browse Shelf Listing to specific Libraries and Locations. This is fine when it is wanted; on the other hand, using Browse Shelf Listing directly from a holdings record (i.e. Alt+C in the Metadata Editor) defaults to limiting the search to the library and location in the holdings record (i.e. the 852 subfields $b and $c). I prefer the Library and Location fields remain blank (as they do when opening Browse Shelf Listing from the Resources tab) unless the user chooses to set limits.

  8. Creation Date should be displayed in the Item Record

    Please add the item record's Creation Date to the fields displayed in the item record. An appropriate location would be the History tab. It is currently possible to find the creation date only through Alma Analytics. While the Receipt Date can be a clue to the item's date of creation, the dates are not necessarily the same. Furthermore, the Receipt Date is populated automatically only when receiving an item through Acquisitions, and inputting the date manually when creating an item in the Metadata Editor is an extra step which can be overlooked and may not be applicable (or justified by…

  9. Limit physical holding by year in the getit frame

    Using the Primo service page, when we have print holdings for a journal the requested article is from, but not for the article date, we still see print holdings which are not related and confusing to our users.

    I would expect to either not see the print holdings or have it be clear that these are not for the requested item (like having to click "more" to see them).

  10. Change Holdings area to match Items

    Editing Holdings requires knowing all of the codes for your institution's locations and libraries. If the Holdings area were more like the Items area then the choices for locations and libraries would be on pull down menus. A History tab similar to the one on the Items screen would also be helpful.

  11. Tools/Excel results need to include holdings ID(s) and item ID(s).

    The ability of Alma to export search results to an Excel spreadsheet is one of its strong features. In order to remove the necessity of still having to run an Analytics report, all such Excel spreadsheets need to include the holdings ID(s), holdings permanent location(s), and item ID(s), in order to present a clear and full picture of the extent of the holdings of a given title.   12. Add Material Type Mapping to Physical Inventory Import Profile

    As a Copy-Cataloger I receive batch files of bibliographic records with physical inventory from a variety of vendors and some of these vendors send a variety of formats in the same file. These files contain bibliographic records with a material type of Book, Map, DVD-ROM, Issue, etc. With our current Import Profile that we use, the Library field, Location field, Barcode field, and Item policy field can be mapped with MARC21 local field.   13. Add Storage Location ID as column choice in Item View screen

    We would like to view Storage Location ID in the item view screen within Alma: https://www.screencast.com/t/1fJ1IyCq

    We can now access in Analytics however staff would like to be able to see this field without having to run a separate analytics report to see the data.

  16. Shelf Report - Figuring out items that are not in call number order

    When running a shelf report for a set or call number range we want to know if any items are misshelved in the sense that they are not in the right call number order. As far as we can tell this is not possible but is an essential part of our inventory checking.   17. Ability to change item's Material Type while in process

    We would like the ability to change an item's Material Type while the item is in process. Currently, Alma does not allow this unless the item is in place. If the item is in process, we get the error message, "The item is not in place and there are requests registered for this item. Please handle the requests before moving or updating this item." Incorrect material type is part of the reason the item was sent to processing, so it seems strange the change cannot be made while the item is there.

  18. List of items - when have several pages of items on a holdings, return back to active page

    I apologize if this has already been posted (I searched and searched and did not see it), but when viewing a holdings record with a list of items that have multiple pages of items (like 6-7 pages) - it would be great if Alma would default back to the page of items you were actively on, versus defaulting back to page one - every time you edit an item record on list of items page. I know that the lines on invoices that were several pages used to do the same thing (default to page one), but was fixed.

  19. Function to have a real time physical inventory

    Real-time physical inventory:
    1. Ability to choose location and general call number range
    2.Displayed by call number order including title, number of charges, number of browses and current item status (missing, work order, on loan)

  20. Narrow Withdraw Items job functionality to Physical Items sets

    1. Restrict the Withdraw Items to functioning with Physical Items (barcode) sets. (Currently it will run with sets of Physical Titles and effectively perform as if the job DELETE BIBLIOGRAPHIC RECORDS were run with the “Delete all associated inventory resources” parameter selected.)

    2. Include OCLC number in the Excel Export for Physical Items (currently only Physical Titles sets export with the OCLC number, but those sets function erroneously in the Withdraw Items job)
