Narrow Withdraw Items job functionality to Physical Items sets
Restrict the Withdraw Items to functioning with Physical Items (barcode) sets. (Currently it will run with sets of Physical Titles and effectively perform as if the job DELETE BIBLIOGRAPHIC RECORDS were run with the “Delete all associated inventory resources” parameter selected.)
Include OCLC number in the Excel Export for Physical Items (currently only Physical Titles sets export with the OCLC number, but those sets function erroneously in the Withdraw Items job)

Moving item records to differenent holding records and merging holding records
Being able to merge holdings records that have been accidentally created. Either that, or moving item records to different holding records, even if the holding records are in the same location, but different call numbers.

Physical Item Editor - General Information Tab - add Chron. K (day) field
When in the Physical Item Editor (for periodicals receiving work), it would be more convenient if the General Information Tab included the field for Chronology K (for day of month), (along with the Chron. I (year) and Chron. J (month) fields). As it is, if the day of the month needs to be edited, you have to go into the separate ENUM/CHRON Information Tab.

Run a "change temporary location indications" job
This functionnality is currently available only with the "change physical item" that allows change for all item indications. Such a new job would help all librarians to change temporary locations for a set of documents avoiding the risk of errors in other item fields. With that new option, it would be possible to keep the "change physical item" job only available to ILS manager and let all librarians run the "change temporary location indications"

Alma Templates: allow user-by-user customization of default holdings templates
The shared MARC21 holdings templates in Alma offer customization of the template properties, allowing the selection of one template as the default. This customization applies to the entire institution, and not the individual Alma user. Therefore, when we have multiple catalogers working with multiple templates, they all have to conform to one default template. It would be useful to allow each cataloger to set the default template for their workflow.

Option to change item policy in batch
User can have the option to select all the items under a holding record and change the item policy batch for them all at once.

Delete item records created using the "duplicate" function if they have not been saved.
On the List of Items screen, under the Actions menu for each item, the "Edit" and "Duplicate" commands are currently adjacent. It is fairly common (at least for me, personally) to accidentally click "Duplicate" instead of "Edit." This automatically takes me into the edit screen for the new item I have unintentionally created.
There is already a "Cancel" option at the top of the screen, but it only goes back to the item list which now includes an extra item. In order to get rid of that new item I have to navigate to it (which can be a bit…34 votes -
When viewing an item, there should be an option to edit without leaving the item screen
When you view an item (or click on the barcode to view an item), there should be an option on the item screen to edit the item. Instead, if we decide we need to edit the item, we have to back out of the item screen, then select Actions --> edit to edit the item. Too many clicks!

Moving item records should have a better way of refreshing the list of items
When item records are moved from one location to another the move will be made and the list of items will refresh but then leave all of the items moved still on the page. From here there is no good option to refresh the page and continue working and moving item records. Using the Alma back button takes you back to the bib record where you have to reenter the the list of items. In the List of Items screen, add "description" to the list of search options in the "Find" box.
Currently in a list of items, Alma allows us to search within the list of items by only barcode or the call number. Adding the ability to search the description field would simplify trying to locate an item with unique information in the description, such as "index".

Allow retention of original holdings record when the last item is moved to a different holdings record
As a user who is changing locations in item records, I would like the ability to retain the original holdings record when the last item gets moved to a different holdings record.

Expand Validate Local Call Number Distinction task to include 050
The Validate Call Number Distinction task should include 050 call numbers and not just local 090 tagged call numbers.
Vendors are sending records with call numbers tagged 050 _4 (LC-type call number assigned by a library other than LC) which are essentially the same as a locally-assigned LC-type call number (090), only they're not included in the validation task. We are encountering lots of duplicate call numbers in our Alma database.

Make item record note field labels configurable
Currently the labels on the fields in the physical item notes tab are not configurable. We would like to be able to change the labels for these note fields.

Metadata clean up
It would be great to alter the material type of items whilst they item is still on loan, so that an item with a material type of "none" could become a book.

Better clarity of which holding an item belongs to.
We would like the item details page to include the holding ID number, or the holdings page to include the item barcodes. Or some other solution to this confusion. When we migrated to Alma, a number of records were created with multiple identical holdings, one for each item. This causes confusion when we want to move items between holdings as there is no way of knowing which item is connected to which holding – the order they appear on the page is not the same for items & holdings.

Alternative way to withdraw items from ALMA
It would be useful to have a withdraw items button displayed when a library needs to withdraw items from its collection. When viewing items from the search results page, instead of clicking Actions and choosing withdraw item from the drop down menu - can we have a button next to the existing move items button for a quick withdrawal of items.

Standardize item record navigation
Currently when navigating the list of items the position of the numbers and arrows changes position depending on how deep you are in the records. For instance when you go from the first page to the second page the arrow will jump to the left due to the records being displayed adding another digit. This happens again when you hit three digits in the record display. So if you are paging through focused on the content you can all of a sudden jump to the end of the list without ever moving your mouse. I'm asking for this to be…

Should be able to fill in all fields in item records by typing.
Currently, location fields in item records can only be filled in by choosing from a menu. It would be helpful if it were also possible to simply type in the location when it is known. That way the change from one temporary location to another could be done by a macro, which would save a LOT of time when processing a cart of books with the same location change.

Physical Item Editor - activate Confirm button upon Save action
In the Physical Item Editor, upon Clicking the Save button, please automatically activate as default the "Confirm" button in the Confirmation Message pop-up window.
In the same way that all other Confirmation Message pop-up windows already have the Confirm button activated, so all you have to do is hit the enter key to select it. (Instead of having to make another click on the Confirm button.) This would help improve efficiency.2 votes
