  1. Stop bib page from jumping

When editing different fields within a bib record, the page inexplicably jumps and scrolls, causing catalogers to lose their place or mistype. This seems to be especially true at the bottom of longer records, when it will auto-scroll towards the top when the cataloger is still trying to edit fields near the end of the record. Please allow for the page to be stationary unless catalogers physically scroll the page.

  2. Improve "MMS – build record relations" job to allow matching on CZ ISBN-10s

I may be incorrect on this, but I believe that the "MMS – build record relations" often fails to "relate" lower-quality community zone records to local records where we'd expect it to. I wonder if this might be due to the CZ records concerned having only ISBN-10s (formatted with dashes), whilst the local records have ISBN-13s.

Whilst it would obviously be ideal to improve the CZ metadata, I know this is part of a larger, incremental project. In the meantime, if I am right about the matching issue, would it be possible to tweak the job parameters to allow matching…

  3. Shortcut keys to expand drop-down lists in new MD Editor

Please add the shortcut keys for each tab in the menu bar of the records area.
In the old MD Editor, shortcut keys Alt+F, Alt+E and Alt+T are for expanding the drop-down lists of File, Edit and Tools respectively. They are very important shortcut keys in the the AutoHotKey/Macro scripts. But there are no such shortcut keys in the new MD Editor.

  4. Position sensitive NRs (Normalization Rules) - ISBD punctuation

ISBD punctuation is determined by the following subfield.
    For example:
In 245 the subfield preceding $$b must end in one of the following:
    1. space + colon
    2. space + semicolon
    3. space + Arabic semicolon (if your cataloging language is Arabic)
    4. space + equal sign

The NR syntax currently does not offer any straightforward solution for correcting ISBD punctuation.

We request the development of an NR function that will suffix the subfield with a string based on the subfield that follows it, including the case in which a subfield is the last one.

    I think it would be…

  5. Speed up the cataloging process in Alma

I recently migrated from Voyager, and I'm finding Alma helpful with the Normalization Rules. However, it needs the following improvements to speed up the cataloging process for someone who is working with print materials or media (not eBooks):
    1. Please set individual user preferences by adding Item Defaults in Ama for Material type, Copy ID, and Item Policy. When pressing Alt+I, this will help automatically populates those boxes.
    2. When cataloging and pressing Ctrl I for the Holdings, it would be helpful to send you to the Edit automatically and automatically populate the call number and location (if not already…

  6. Control valid MARC fields/subfields/indicators with XML extension pack

There are many valid MARC fields/subfields/indicators that my library doesn't use. The local XML extension pack allows you to add fields/subfields/indicators but does not let you say a field should not be used. We would like to control valid fields/subfields/indicators that we could then validate against.

  7. New Metadata Editor templates: editing template v. creating new record

Previously, when opening a template in the classic Metadata Editor (MDE), a click on the template name from the list of templates would give a list of options, including creating a new record: there was no doubt as to whether you were creating a new record from the template, or editing the template itself.

However, with the new MDE, clicking on the template name takes you straight into editing the template itself. Creating a new record from the template now requires a right click first to get to the options menu, but this is not at all obvious. It is…

  8. ability to customize xsl to better display creator names

We would like to customize our display so that our imported data in Alma-D can include commas between the first and last name of creators, and possibly other styling. Currently our creators display as "David Paul Photographer" when we'd rather they displayed as "David, Paul (Photographer)" which is what we had in our old, Islandora, system. Apparently we need to be able to customize XSL to do this.

  9. Monitor and view imports

In Alma, imports that come into the system can be available to monitor and view in two different but almost identical areas:

    1. The Acquisitions tab -> Monitor and View Imports:

    or

2: The Resources tab -> Monitor and View imports:

This page lists the different import profiles that show up in the Acquisitions area vs. the Resources area. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/060Record_Import/080Monitor_and_View_Import_Jobs

It is not very user friendly to have two different, almost identical looking areas, to check for and monitor imports like this. Especially as the import profiles themselves can be equally managed via Resources (Manage Import profiles) or Acquisitions (Manage Import…

  10. Restrict the ability to edit local templates

On several occasions, people have edited our local templates to catalogue a book instead of copying the template and using it as a template. It would be great if we could restrict the ability to edit local templates (to Catalog Administrator, perhaps?).

If this is not possible, could we have the ability to roll a template back to a previous version, like we can with bibliographic records?

  11. Allow editing of controlled vocabulary terms

The Controlled Vocabulary Registry doesn't allow editing of individual terms. The only way to edit/correct one is by deleting and re-creating it.

  12. Add Scheduler Status to Import Profiles screen

On the Import Profiles screen, listing all the import profiles, add a new column (next to the Status column) for Scheduler Status. The values would be Active or Inactive, as shown in the import profile. If an import profile has an Import Protocol of Upload File/s, the Scheduler Status should display as Inactive in this new column.

  13. Merge/overlay authority records

The merging/overlaying functionality is not currently available for Authority records in Alma.
It would be very useful, especially in a cooperative cataloguing environment as SBN, where we operate; as a matter of fact, we do not use ready-made bibliographic records prepared by a national agency, but every library contributes to the general national catalogue.

Without visible dividing lines it is easy to read across lines in the Form Editor and other listings. Please see screenshots and suggested changes that would improve readability and visual clarity of displays in the MDE.

  17. Metadata editor: Enable moving up and down within a field using arrow keys

It would be nice to be able to move up and down within a field using arrow keys in MDE. For example, when a lengthy 505 or 520 MARC field has many lines, the cataloger must now move to the desired line using either mouse or left/right arrow keys, since pressing up/down arrow causes the pointer to move to the previous/next field.

My suggestion is that the pointer should be able to move within the field using up/down arrows and move only to the previous/next field when the pointer is on the first/last line of the field.

    Using up/down arrow…

  18. Ability to configure the subject list names of the Browse Bibliographic Headings

Currently, the Browse Bibliographic Headings subject list names the CZ vocabularies and is OTB provided and cannot be changed.
As we use only a few of this vocabulary, we would like to be to configure it and be able to choose which one appears in the list.

  19. Add a new the Resource Type facets for Kit

Currently, the facet Kit is defined as follow:
    Kit – Physical LDR pos. 06 = o AND 008 pos. 33 = b AND 008 pos. 29 != a,b,c,o,f,q,s

We sometimes use Kit for electronic material with Leader 06 o (= Kit) and 008 Position 29: s and this is a "Undefined" facet in Alma.

We would like to have a new Resource type facet for kit, based on
    Leader 06 o (= Kit) and 008 Position 29: s

  20. MDE menu bar

Allow customization of the menu bar for the new MDE. Personally I'd add an icon for "view inventory" and a trash can for "delete" These were icons on the old MDE that I used constantly. By making a drag/drop menu bar supervisors could create menu bars for staff based on the tasks. Thank you.
