  1. Export URL with FTP

You can export the URL of Portfolios via Alma Admin -> Resource Management -> REsource configuration -> Configuration Menu -> Record Export -> Export URL
But you can not do this in a sort of batch job to feed your proxy with this URL automaticly (Case 223210)

  2. Brief result display options per Alma login

Enable Alma users to choose "brief display" options (either very brief or extended information). Many of our Alma users would like to be able to do a search in Alma (in both repository search and course reading lists) and ONLY see a list of titles (e.g., do not display Format, Subject, ISBN, Availability). However, recognize that many Alma users would like to see extended display, so we would like each Alma user to be able to set their display preferences (e.g., brief, title only OR additional information). Ideally, users could choose exactly what data elements to display (e.g., OCLC number,…

  3. Add indicators to IZ/NZ/CZ tabs in Repository Search results to show presence of bib records and local holdings

It would save time in cataloging, acquisitions, ILL, and reference if the IZ/NZ/CZ tabs included some sort of indication that there are bib records matching the search and, where applicable, local holdings attached to those records.

My thought is a simple count added after the tab title -- local holdings / bibs.

Additionally it would be helpful to shade or highlight the active tab, making it very quick to recognize in which zone you are working.

Finally, on NZ and CZ results lists, it would be helpful 1) highlight the local holdings so that they stand out more obviously in…

  4. In advanced searching in Alma NZ for physical titles, have results say: Advanced searching not performed for physical materials in NZ.

In advanced searching in Alma NZ for physical titles, have results say: Advanced searching not performed for physical materials in NZ Currently, results from this impossible search only indicate "No records were found," making it look like the NZ does not have anything, when in fact there may be many. Perhaps search options for advance searching in the NZ should not allow physical titles as a search option. Example: condition title= Wyoming, and condition material type= Map in the NZ results in nothing, but there are over 2k hits if searching All titles instead of Physical titles, some of which…

  5. Make Brief Levels more visible

Now that we have defined our local Brief Levels for Alma bib records, it would be very helpful if we could view the Brief Levels more readily. For example, it would be helpful to include the Brief Level as a column in spreadsheets of exported search results. And it would be very helpful to see the Brief Levels in the Receiving work bench to help with initial sorting of incoming material and identifying items most appropriate for rapid cataloging at the point of receipt.

  6. Expand options for repository search for item barcodes

It would be nice to be able to have more options in the advanced search when searching by barcode. Currently, the only options are "contains keywords", "contains phrase", and "is empty".

It would be useful to be have the same dropdown options that are available when searching on other identifiers, such as the MMSID. Specifically, the >, >=, <, <= options would be very useful.

Sample situation: I would like to create a set of all items that have not been moved to our new barcode system. Our new barcodes have 8 digits, and our old barcode numbers only have…

  7. catalog set

The current limit of 30 titles that can be pushed to 'catalog as a set' is too low.

It would be useful if this limit was raised to at least 50 or could be set at an institute level.

  8. Ability to run a job on a set from the Manage Sets screen

Currently we need to create a set in the Manage Sets area then go to "Run a Job", select the job to run and then select the set.

Wouldn't it be great if you could go to Manage Sets then click on "Actions" for a particular set, then choose "Run a Job". You could then be prompted to choose the job to run but you wouldn't need to go through the additional step of choosing the set (and you wouldn't have to exit the sets screen to go to the "Run a job" screen). And only the jobs that can…

  9. LC call number search and index

LC call number should support indexing all valid MARC fields as mentioned in http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd050.html and not only 050$a or local 090$a fields.
It should index also $b and than enable to search for full LC call number, of course this should reflects also in the holdings level (i.e. $h,$i etc)

Thank you for submitting this idea. To be sure we fully understand the request, could you please specify which other MARC fields other than 050 and 090 you are asking to be added to the LC call number index? Thank you.

  10. Add Filtering Group to Local 9xx fields so they can be searched by keyword in Alma Repository

It's great that institutions can add their own local 9xx fields but staff have to remember to search by the specific field tag. We would like the ability to assign our 9xx tags to general search indexes.

  11. Add Visual Materials to Quick Cataloging citation types options

Our library uses the Quick Cataloging tool/interface to create records for materials in course reserves. Currently, the only options for citation types are books and articles. We have DVDs professors place on reserve. When records for DVDs are created, they are created on a record type for book. It would be great to choose citation type "visual materials" at the point of creating the bib record via the Quick Cataloging tool.

  12. Add a safety feature to Delete Bibliographic Record Job to include option "Do not delete if ANY PO Line is attached"

Currently there is only an option to protect Active PO Lines with this job. Acquisitions staff often place orders on bib records representing multi-volume sets. Cataloging staff then decided to use individual bib records for each volume and want to delete the set record and move POLs to the individual records. It would be very helpful to have this feature in place to protect order information.

  13. Add an Owning Library facet in Repository searches

Can we please have the owning library added as a facet in repository searches. At the moment it only appears in Acquisitions based searches as we have four libraries making up our collections this facet would also be very useful in the general searching

  14. repository search sort by collection name (asc/desc)

Ability to sort searches in the repository by collection name (ascending & descending) when searching by titles & portfolios. This sort feature is only available right now when searching for electronic collections; this feature, when turned on, applies to the other searches you can do (i.e. electronic portfolios) but only if one searches by collection first. Would like the sort feature to be available for all searches in the repository, not just for collections.

  15. Expand the menu for actions on records in the NZ repository search results to include "link" in addition to "edit" and "order"

Currently, in order to link to a record you have to click on the title for the full record and then click on the "link" button. Putting the option to 'link' to a record in the initial search results would save some maneuvering of the mouse and a click.

  17. Linking bib records based on 830 $x should be optional

Alma currently links bib records based on the presence of the ISSN in the 830 $x. This causes a terribly confusing display in Primo and Alma and is prone to messing up requests. This should be an optional "feature" and not automatically enabled. We do have the option to turn off all related records, but if we use that, we lose all our boundwith relations.

We should not have to delete a valid MARC subfield (830 $x) in order to prevent related holdings record displaying in Alma and Primo.

  18. Better presentation of Resource types in limiting search, left panel

I have a suggestion related to Resource types, limiting search. Sometimes the group Undefined is too big. If you search "Mozart" (in NZ-instance), there are more than 2000 Undefined. Most of these are component parts. An improvement would be to use:
    Component parts (Text): LDR pos. 06 = a AND LDR pos. 7 = a
Component parts (Musical sound): LDR pos. 06 = j AND LDR pos. 7 = a
It is easy and you don't have to consider 008 here.

If you need any changes here, you may do so, or let me suggest something.
    Maybe it is not…

  20. Change Alma so that holdings information in angle brackets < > displays in all views.

The only place that holdings information in angle brackets < > displays is in the edit function. Angle brackets are ANSI standard punctuation, and we have used them in many holdings records. This information does not display in index screens in Alma or Search It, thus making it difficult for users to accurately interpret our holdings. Please change Alma so that information in angle brackets < > displays in all views.
