  2. Searching ISBN and Multimatch handling of ISBN-matches

I think perhaps searching ISBN may be a little too sensitive. When I search ISBN 978 -82-93206-05-7 I get no result (no records found). When I remove the space and search this: 978-82-93206-05-7 I get one record.

When importing files (Repository - Import from file) and a record in the file has spaces in stead of hyphens or spaces in addition to hyphens, I get many multimatches as it seems to be a match for all ISBNs that start with the part of the ISBN before the space, but not for the real match. In other words, I get i.e.…

  3. Allow configuration of quick cataloguing form required fields

We currently only use the quick cataloguing form at circulation desks to create quick records to loan items found on the shelves but not found on Alma. The items are loaned and then the work order routes them to the cataloguing team on return. All these items already have call numbers so we'd like the call number field to be a required field in the quick cataloguing form. Sometimes returned items are incorrectly returned to the shelves and if the quick catalogue record does not include the call number they are often impossible to track down.

  4. Include prefixes in 035 repository search and creating set

Currently, when we do a repository search on Other System Number (035) with an identifier including a prefix, e.g. (EBL)165125, Alma would ignore the prefix and only match the remaining part of the identifier. That would result in retrieving incorrect record, e.g. record with (PQKBTitleCode)TC0000165125 in 035.

The same imprecise search also occurs when creating a set from a file with 035 field header. The prefixes are ignored and incorrect records are retrieved.

We would like the repository search on other system number and creating set with 035 field header to perform precise searches including the prefixes on the identifiers.

  5. Update inventory import profile: shelf ready option

For shelf ready materials the update inventory import profile updates the item records with barcode numbers. There is also an option to receive the item with the import profile.

But the item must still be scanned in and marked as done in Acquisitions, Post-receiving processing, Scan. Or the item must be received manually in Acquisitions, Receiving and Processing, Receive. After either step, the item is placed in transit to the circulation desk for shelving. (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Resource_Management/060Record_Import/020Managing_Import_Profiles#Configuring_the_Update_Inventory_Import_Profile)

We would like to skip this manual step. In the update inventory import profile we would like the option to mark the items…

  6. Add indication of where I am browsing at Browse bib headings

The user often does not know where s/he was browsing at Browse bib headings after moving away from the left pane. Could EXL add an indication e.g. by a different color to the current bib heading on the left pane to remind the user?

Also it'd be helpful to show the call number on the right pane to save the time to click into the record to read the call number.

For EXL people: Please read Salesforce case # 00527082 for more details.

  7. Ability to edit records during import when manual handling required

During the import of records, we sometimes get the "Manual Handling Required" notice, from which we can view the record in question as well as its error.

On that screen you can view the record and we have often found that only a small fix is needed to correct the error, and would be best done at this point in the process rather than getting the original file, making a change, and either reloading the whole thing or extracting the one file to fix and reload it alone.

It would be nice if, along with the ability to simply view…

  8. Export suppression status

When exporting a list of titles to Excel, it would be helpful if a title's suppressed status was exported along with the rest of the title's information. Currently, there is a visual indicator in Alma if a title is suppressed or not, but that doesn't seem to translate over when exported. Since we often work with large lists of titles and there's no way to sort itemized sets, we need to be able sort through them effectively in Excel.

  9. Ability to browse all call numbers in a single search

We would like the ability to browse all call numbers, regardless of call number type. In Alma, many of our local Library of Congress, Dewey, and SuDocs call numbers are retrievable only by the call number type Other Scheme. An “all call number” browse would allow us to retrieve a complete shelf list of our call numbers and would be especially helpful when assigning new call numbers.

  10. make OCLC delimiter (double dagger (ǂ)) invalid in Alma

Please make the OCLC delimiter (double dagger (ǂ)) an invalid character in Alma. We all copy and paste information from Connexion. Often, people forget to change the double dagger to the double $$. Please make the double dagger invalid, and require the cataloger to replace with the proper character ($$) before they save the record. Other systems like Voyager make the cataloger replace the double dagger delimiter before they can save the record.

  11. Editing multiple collections from a set in bulk

We have a lot of historic collection records left over from our migration which we would like to update in bulk, for example, there collections have no portfolios so I would like to be able to add services to them all at once rather than individually. I'd also like to be able to update the "Library" field etc.

I can create a set of all these collections however, I can't make bulk updates to it. It would be great if there was an ability to run a job to add services and download a spreadsheet of all the fields in…

  12. Community Zone records: subfield t missing in 780 and 785 MARC tags

In the CZ please add $t (Title of the related resource) to tags 780 (Continues) and 785 (Continued by).

The lack of $t causes issues in discovery where 780 and 785 tags are set to be displayed, linked and searchable. With no $t this is not possible.

  13. Give us more lines in the holdings record so that 866's are generated, so that our inventory shows up in Primo.

At present when holdings records become too big, Alma does not generate the 866's neither by saving nor by enhancement (even though Alma falsely claims a successful enhancement). Because of this, our actual holdings are not displayed in Primo. This is not okay. The inventory records do not show what we actually hold in cases of incomplete volumes that have been bound: thus the need for accurate holding records. Also the 866's are NOT being updated when changes/additions/deletions to the 863's, 864's, or 865's are made. Again this is not okay, and updating the 866's becomes a time consuming manual…

  14. We should be able to add an 856 to a bib record and that link show up in Primo.

856 fields have always held links to electronic versions of titles or just to another resource. We need this put back in ALMA so that in PRIMO we can see that url when the title is searched for as part of the physical item record.

  15. Unclutter index for F3 lookup from field 830 (Series Added Entry - Uniform Title)

F3 lookup from field 830 is used to verify if a series title has been entered into the database in a standardized form, and, if so, to link the bib record to that title . At present, the index searched by F3 contains a mixture of headings from fields 830 and 490 (where the non-standardized series title is entered) and headings with volume numbers (which refer to a part of a series, not the series as a whole). To best serve its purpose, the index looked up from 830 with F3 should contain and display only the fields $a, $p,…

Recently turned on the thumbnail display in Alma. Half liked it, mainly fulfillment, half didn't acq and cataloguing. Maybe possible to make this setting customizable based upon user or Role?

  17. Change color of "suppress from discovery" and other checkmarks

It is difficult to tell at a glance based just on the color of the check mark whether a holding or bib you're working with has been successfully suppressed or unsuppressed when you click on it. Going from faded yellow to bright yellow is not very obvious, especially for those who are already struggling with font size.

Could it not be a completely different color? Maybe yellow/black?

This would be easier than having to go back and look to see if the eye is present or not.

  18. Expand "Create Physical Items Work Order" job to include work order Status

The “Create Physical Item Work Orders” job should be expanded to allow users to add work order Status in addition to Type and Department to a set of records. Currently adding Status is a 2nd separate step. After running the job to apply Type and Department, you must then sign into the appropriate Currently At location, Manage In Process Items, and then apply the Work Order Status (limited to one screen of 20 records at a time). Very Inefficient!

  19. Display all work orders when binding items

When I want to bind two items together, there is a screen which allows me to pick a work order type. But in this screen, only work orders that have been defined on the institution level are displayed. Work orders on library level are not displayed and therefore can't be chosen.

Solution: Display all work order types when binding items.

We want to create a work order type on library level for our binding workflow.

  20. Enable labeling enumeration and chronology fields

It can be difficult to recall the meaning of enumeration and chronology fields, e.g., Enumeration A, Enumeration B, Chronology I, etc.). It would be helpful if general system administrators could change the labels of these that show to staff, for example, change Enumeration A to Year.
