  1. Adding a lending request 'from search'

Small thing: when choosing 'from search' for adding a lending request, can the cursor be active in the keywords search field automatically, please. Thanks.

  2. Modifying a partner after recieving a borrowing request should be possible

In the SNLP workflow the partner changes from the own partner code to the partner who ships the request automatically. Therefore most of the requests have the correct partner when the item arrives at the library.
So most of the time there is no need to modify a partner and the staff's attention to this attribute is not as high as it is to other attributes of the request. If we observe this AFTER receiving the item, there is no possibility to do so.
Because we don't know to which partner we have to send back the item after it…

  3. SEARCH BAR SCOPE = STICKY

When searching, you can choose the scope from your institution, to Network Zone, to Community Zone. This choice should stick.

I work in Resource Sharing, and mostly in the Network Zone. I have to choose "network" every time I search something. It would be great if once I selected the NZ scope it would stick and stay there for every search.

  4. When Creating Borrowing Requests Check for Duplicates with previous completed and cancelled requests

Following the implementation of the ability to check for duplicates when creating borrowing requests, we see that this only applies to active requests. We would find it helpful to have duplicate completed and cancelled requests flagged up in Alma (without the request being automatically rejected)

  5. Blocking borrowing requests on books published within the last year

With an active automatic rota for books, borrowing requests sent from Primo to Alma are automatically sent to partner. This applies for books published within the last year as well. Before we activated the autoROTA, we would usually change most of these borrowing requests into purchase requests and place the patron on a waiting list.
New books requested by a patron are often items we want to purchase ourselves, and not spend money on borrowing from our partners in addition. With the autoRota there is no way for us to block these borrowing requests from being sent.

    We would like…

  7. [Alma] - ILL Resource Sharing - allow pickup location other than RS Library for Physical non-returnable requests

Right now Borrowing Request type "Physical non-returnable", which is the one used for document delivery (tipycally a printed copy of an article), allows to choose only the Resource Sharing Library as Pickup Location.

This is a problem, since a user is instead willing to choose the library where the printed copy should be delivered. This is particularly useful when libraries are geographically sparse.

Using a temporary item does not help, since in this case we don't have an item that must be returned (and shipped back to the lender, as it is in the ILL of a book). The user…

  8. Move the Level of service facet to the top of the facet list

Currently the Level of Service facet is at the base of the facet list, almost always hidden by the facets above it. I would like to see it moved to the top of the list as the timely processing of material for Rush or Express requests depends on being able to find those requests and action them quickly. As it is currently unless you specifically scroll down the list, you don't even know those requests have come in.

  9. Check out an item to a visiting patron's account at their home institution. Direct Pick-up Resource Sharing

Instead of creating and managing a visiting patron's record, allow libraries to check items out onto their home institutions record. The patron could validate by choosing the institution and having the patron sign in to their account.

As a patron I could go to any library in my network and easily check out an item there by signing into my home library and checking out the items. Everything checked out would show up on my home library's record and I could return the item either at the lending library or my home library.

  10. Make Query to Patron Letter use addressFrom like any other letter

The Query to Patron letter functionality for Borrowing Requests in Alma has recently been reimplemented to use the standard mail configuration in Alma. By some reason an exception has been made for the "addressFrom" setting, where it instead still uses the default address for the Resource Sharing library.

This is counter intuitive, as the addressFrom value is still configurable for the letter, only it doesn't have any effect. I'm still surprised my case (#00609529) was identified as a documentation issue and not a bug.

If you like us has selected to not implement a separate Resource Sharing library, this also…

  11. Resource Sharing form direct linking to support SAML2 login

Currently direct linking to the Alma Resource Sharing form is only possible with PDS authentication.

We would like to suggest support for SAML Authentication.

The following page on the knowledge centre discusses direct linking to the alma_rs_form

  12. Overdues

An alert function when items have gone overdue. Currently the requester will get sent overdue e-mails, but the library is not notified. When you have thousands of requests it is imposisble to search through.

  13. More frequent resource sharing notifications

Enable the option to send notifications to users who place resource sharing requests for each stage of the process. This will give users a better sense of where their requests are, instead of just sending them into a black hole with no idea when they might arrive. This is similar to the way that online shopping provides notifications for each stage of a purchase, and is something users are coming to expect.

  14. Show completed requests in RS without having to enter search term

At the moment, completed requests are hidden from records and have to be searched by entering matching search terms. Our ILL staffs are finding facets appearing left to active requests records very helpful, as they reportedly spare staff members' effort and time to enter search terms and go through all the unwanted information. This applies to completed requests as well, as the staffs have to revisit them every now and then. It would be greatly appreciated if completed request records could be seen, limited, searched and browsed just like active requests, without having to enter search terms.

  15. Having the notes field displayed on the front screen so we dont have to go into each request to see if any notes

If we add any notes it would be helpful to see that there is a note in the request on the first creation screen so that other people can see it straight away without having to look at each one individually

  16. Completed Requests - Searchable Fields

I would like to search Completed Requests by Partner Code and External Identifier. Currently, this is only possible via Analytics which has a one-day delay.

  17. Recent Searches & Customization of Searchable Fields

I would like to customize the fields displayed and their order when searching Borrowing and Lending requests. In addition, I would like Recent Searches to be displayed first. Currently, there are many fields that we do not use and we need to scroll down.

  18. Populate Additional Information for Articles from the DOI or PMID Fields

The idea is to populate additional information for LENDING article requests from the DOI or PMID fields and not just for BORROWING article requests

  20. Closed Library Management TOU apply to Resource Sharing Request

Currently, the RS Lending Request item due date does not take into consideration of the library closed days as there is no "Closed Library Due Date Management" option in the Lending Resource Sharing Rule TOU. As a result, the due date may fall on a library closed date where clients are unable to return the item. I have received confirmation from ExLibris (SF354784) that this will need to be an enhancement request rather than a bug fix.
