  1. Add an internal note to the list of available Quick Cataloging fields

    Circ Desk staff should be able to "leave a note" for Resource Management when adding an item using Quick Cataloging. We would like to use a note for Circ Desk staff to initial the item records they worked on, and also to let RM know of anything unusual they notice or questions they have about the piece.

    Right now, the only note field available during Quick Cataloging is the public note, which isn't appropriate for this kind of thing. At least one of the item internal notes should be available for this.

  2. Move the cursor for expired patron pop up

    When a patrons account has expired the location of the cursor on the blocked account pop-up window is 'Renew'. The default location of the cursor should be moved to Cancel or OK as it's too easy to hit enter and renew the account accidentally. Renewing an account should be a chosen action, not the default

  3. Template for "Create Items"

    In the Manage Patron Services, it would be very helpful to be able to configure templates that are used when an operator selects "Create item". Then we can only display the fields that are necessary and leave out fields that are unnecessary for that moment.c

  4. Register Multiple In House Uses for a single item with one scan

    Often our librarians bring a book into a class so that students can use it to work on an assignment. Afterwards, we want to record that it has been used in house multiple times. Can you add a functionality to the Scan In Items screen so that you can scan an item once, but have it register multiple in house uses?

  5. Immediate availablity of new TOU from Fulfillment Units Rule Screen

    When creating a new Fulfillment Unit Rule, we have the opportunity to create a new TOU in that screen. However, when we hit save the TOU is not immediately made available for use in the drop down menu.

    It would be very beneficial if the newly created TOU was immediately available in the drop down after we hit save. Currently, we have to cancel the Fulfillment Unit Rule we are working on and restart it in order to have the new TOU available as a choice.

  6. Remove option to 'Renew' offered in a "Due Loans Letter" generated by a patron request.

    Option to Renew is confusing to patrons who are denied when they try to renew a recalled item. Better not to offer, or appear to offer, it in a recall generated by a patron request.

  7. General hold request only to display for journals

    Currently, the General hold request (GHR) is triggered based on whether or not at least one item on the holding has a description in the item description field.
    We would like to change the trigger to target specifically series, as many of our items have descriptions without being a journal issue. As criteria, the bibliographic level of the bib record (=s) could serve.
    The GHR would then only appear for actual journals.

  8. Add Date Due column to patron Fines record

    When a patron questions their fine, I would like to be able to show them: your book was due on this date (date due) and returned on this date (Discharge date found under the comments column). I've already found the Columns list, but Due Date isn't in there. I've also checked with Basecamp and it was suggested I send this in to Ideas Exchange. Thanks!

    Preferred language visible handling requests:

    When handling requests it would be timesaving to have patrons preferred Language visible as well as if you need to contact the user. So to have an option to choose to include Language in the Administration > User Management Configuration > Configuration Menu > General > Contact Information Pop-Up

  10. Automatic request not filled notification for on loan items which are requested but not returned without cancelling the request

    If a user places a request for an item currently on loan to another user and the requested item is not returned there should be an option to notify the requester that the request is not going to be fulfilled without using the cancel request function and disassociating the user's request from the item.

  11. Configure better functionality (letters and fining) to calculate a new due date for an overdue item when it has been recalled

    In an institution where we do not use automated renewals, we encounter instances where patron 1 has an item and allowed it to get overdue but it is then recalled. The letter that goes out does not use our configurations to calculate a new due date from the date of the request and it starts to calculate fines immediately. This causes much patron distress as they can't go back into the past to return the item, nor are they informed that there might be a grace period to return the item.   12. Disable credit functionality for patrons

    We can't and don't want to handle credits in favor of patrons in Alma. While I was able to deactivate the addition of the credit "fine" type, it is still possible to create a credit from the payment menu by ticking the box "Add change to balance".
    While you "just don't have to tick it" in order to solve the problem, mistakes are quickly made. We would like to have a parameter that disables the credit functionality overall, so that there are no hidden ways to add credit all the same.

  13. Fulfillment Unit Code needs to be able to be longer then 10 characters

    The fulfillment unit code during implementation of Alma was allowed to be longer then 10 characters. But now when we go to add a new fulfillment unit, the code can only be 10 characters, which is not descriptive enough for a consortium that has multiple fulfillment units. We want to increase the length of the code to 25 characters instead.

  14. Sort Activity Report Letter by Due Date

    The Activity Report Letter currently seems to be sorted by Loan Date in ascending order.

    But patrons are probably most interested in knowing which items are due soon. So I think sorting the letter by Due Date in ascending order (first due comes first) would make more sense.

    We would be interested in knowing if, as part of fulfillment in ALMA, there is any way to view the last few patron accounts accessed by staff . It would be a very useful feature when carrying out certain tasks.
    By accessed by staff we mean any patron record which has been 'opened' by a member of staff on their login. On our old system we could view the last 5 patrons but even the previous 2 or 3 would be useful. We have extended the time a patron stays on the screen now but if a long query was…

    Add ability to automatically check-in certain items to work order department such as laptops and ipads when they are returned to the library. For example, all of our technology items are sent to the technology work order department when they are check-in so they can be wiped clean or previous user's data. We would love the ability to automatically send certain items or items from certain locations to a specified work order department on check-in saving lots of added steps for the access services staff every time a laptop or ipad is checked in.

    In Alma, it seems that in the Terms of Use for requesting, you can only choose requestable and non-requestable. Is it possible to have an option to only request items that are checked out?

  20. Multiple requests (Home Delivery pickup), Multiple Items, and Information Display on Scan In Page

    Multiple requests with pickup as Home Delivery are placed against a title and there are one or more copies available. When staff collect the items from the shelves, they scan in the item barcode. Alma, if it can see that there are two identical requests, on the Scan in page will ask for the request ID. Staff then scan in the request ID for the first patron (with Home Delivery as pick up location) in the request list. This results in the first patron being loaned the item that was scanned in.
