← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Please add Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports to Alma CZ. This 0-title database is in the 360 KB, but not in Alma. The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports is comprised of 20 sub-databases. Some are already in Alma, but many are not. We need complete coverage of this collection of databases.

  7. Create new/separate automatic holdings collections for Taylor & Francis

    I'd love to make use of the new Taylor & Francis automatic holdings feature, but the collections it points to are collections that we are already using. For certain providers, I prefer to use automatic holdings as a "back-up" to my own management. The "Taylor & Francis eBooks Complete" is the collection that the GOBI API uses. I'm also already using the "Taylor & Francis Current Content Access" for another reason. Springer and Wiley both have separate autoholdings collections. Could separate collections also be created for Taylor & Francis? Thanks!

    The attached spreadsheet has a list of newspapers that are available on the NewspaperARCHIVE platform, but do not have a portfolio in the CZ collection. This list contains 107 newspapers from CA and 31 from NV. Completing the coverage of NV and CA newspapers in the CZ collection will increase access and usage of these publications for these two states.

    Recommend addition to CDI.

    Please consider this as a new resource from a "new" provider, as SSRN has a long history prior to its acquisition by Elsevier a handful of years ago. It would be great to improve discoverability of the 1.2 million items in this repository, while enhancing the presence of OA and preprint content to Primo and Summon users.

  17. Add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to Alma CZ

    Could you please add Oxford Handbooks 2024 collections to the Alma CZ? Oxford is an established provider-partner of Ex Libris, and they offer yearly Oxford handbooks collections in a variety of subject areas. We have purchased the Oxford Handbooks 2024 Law collection, so that's the one we specifically want, but as long as Ex Libris is working on this, it would be good if all the subject collections could be loaded. These should be Alma CZ collections with portfolios and bib records. There are many Oxford Handbooks subject collections in the CZ for previous years, so we think it should…

  18. Add Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law from Oxford University Press

    We are purchasing the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law from Oxford (https://oxcon.ouplaw.com/home/MPECCOL), one of Ex Libris's established provider partners, but it is not in the CZ. Could Ex Libris please work with Oxford to load this resource into the CZ? The CZ already contains a related Max Planck collection from Oxford, Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law (collection ID 613790000000001626), so I'm hopeful you'll be able to load Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law as well.

  19. Can you please create a separate platform for ‘ScienceOpen’ to track title by title content available via ScienceOpen?

    Hello,
    Can you please create a separate platform dedicated for 'ScienceOpen' if convenient as Taylor and Francis have announced that they will not be publishing 'Review of African Political Economy' after completion of Volume 49, Issue 178, 2023 and the journal will be published through Science Open in 2024 instead? Looks like the main URL is https://www.scienceopen.com/
