← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Please add CZ and CDI records for LOT Dissertations (Landelijke Onderzoekschool Taalwetenschap, the Netherlands National Graduate School of Linguistics).
    Their publications are Open Access and they have ISBN as identifiers.

  2. Create GeoScienceWorld Withdrawn Ebooks Collection

    Work with provider to create a separate, "withdrawn titles" collection for GeoScienceWorld content that is not available to new customers but is available to existing customers.

  3. New Database Request - Wiley:Jisc Collections:Wiley Read and Publish Open Access 2024-2025 Reading List - 360 KB

    A new Jisc agreement has been released for Wiley Journals covering 2024-2025. We therefore need a new database in 360 KB to reflect the current collection and replace the now out-of-date database that covered the 2020-2023 agreement [Wiley:Jisc Collections:Wiley Jisc Read and Publish Open Access Agreement 2020-2023 (reading list) ACPOU]

    We also need article-level linking. ACPOU has article level linking in place and the platform has not changed so the same linking principles should still apply.

  4. Policy Commons

    Please ingest as a CDI "link in record" database the various Policy Commons modules on this page: https://policycommons.net/modules/

    We are particularly interested in "Global Think Tanks", but all should be added.

    Also note that while I expect this would be a new provider, there is already an idea with a status of "planned" for Africa Commons, from the same provider, Coherent Digital.

  5. Add Archaeology Data Service Library

    Please could you add Archaeology Data Service Library as a collection? The content of the Library is a mix of full-text records and reference-only records, but we would be mainly interested in being able to access the full-text records from Primo. The content is freely accessible to all.

  9. Add QNL open repository to CDI for Summon

    HBKU library cooperated with Qatar National Library in their digital repository (https://www.qnl.qa/en/manara-repository/about), and we are looking to allow the repository content to be discoverable through Summon.

    We currently don't have a metadata feed for DROPS, so this will be managed as a request for a "new provider".

    This will be evaluated with the Content Working Group, and decided upon next NERS round.

  20. Add Kortext as an e-book provider

    Please could content from Kortext (https://www.kortext.com/) be added to the KB?

    They are an e-book provider - we currently have a collection of books from them that are only in Summon via a LSH and would love the user experience / discoverability for these books to be the same as that for other e-book providers.
