  1. Option to check fixity on export

Currently, when you export a file, REP or IE from Rosetta you will get an error if there is a problem with exporting the file. However, we have had at least one instance where the file seemed to export without issue but the file couldn't be opened (it was corrupt) and we were able to see that the checksum of the file did not match the checksum stored in Rosetta for that file. This helped us diagnose an issue with the way our storage layer was delivering the file. If Rosetta included an optional checksum calculation on export (the type…

  2. I want to search all members of a specific set that I created on Search for Object page(not on Sets page)

I want to search all members of a specific set that I created on Search for Object page(not on Sets page) to and and export(view) more columns like Date (DC), Is part of (DC), etc.

The set has its ID so we though it's possible to search the itemized set itself by building a search query.

  3. Export Sets of Files

Rosetta offers an IE level export task that can be used with IE level sets and exports the whole IE/Representation. What we need in addition, is a file level export task. It should be possible to export sets of files (itemized sets based on a list of FL IDs, or logical sets based on search criteria, e.g. IE PID and file extension) to a given export path. Subdirectory name could be the set ID.

To date, the only options are file download – one at time – or IE export, which means unpacking the Rep.tar containers and selecting the required…

  4. Bitstream information in Bitstreams Tab

Researchers often use zip or tar files in order to upload large amounts of research data in various formats. Bytestream extraction is a useful tool for analyzing the content of these container files. The resulting bitstream information is written in the METS and displayed in the BitStreams Tab in the Web Editor. The information includes BS ID, file name, file original path, extension, mime type and format ID (if successfully identified).

We would like to suggest the following improvements for the BitStreams Tab and the bitstream information in general:

    1) Include Bitstream size. The relevant values can be found in…

  5. Size stats about IE/REP in results view

I would like an easier was to see the size of an IE/REP both in number of files and storage size. Right now, the only way I can see to get the size of the IE in terms of storage is to search at the file level for all files in that IE and then export the results to CSV and add up the size column (in bytes). Same goes for number of files except you can also see them when you’re in the Meditor in the metadata for the Rep. It doesn't seem like adding at least the number…

  6. OOB viewing report for list of IEs

I would like to be able to give Rosetta a list of IEs and it will return the number of times each of the IEs has been viewed. Right now you can see the top 100 viewed or you can use the IE events report to get number of views for a specific IE, but I want to run this on a set of IEs.

  7. Order of directories/files in Create Logical structMap task

Currently, when you use the Create Logical StructMap task (which we use to reconstruct a folder hierarchy for born-digital files in the CSV/zip and Bagit deposit methods) the resulting order of directories and files contained within those directories is random. We would like the system to either retain the original order of the files as they are in the zip/bag or sort them alphanumerically.

  8. Support the ability for Rosetta to request IEs in batches

We would like Rosetta to work more efficiently when the storage layer is tape based, particularly for exports. Could Rosetta request IEs in batches from the storage layer. when exporting large collections from tape a file is retrieved from tape one at a time.

  9. Allow export of all instances of an element from Search for Objects

When you use the "Search for Objects" from the Data Management menu you can customize the columns and then export those columns easily to a CSV file. One issue we have is that only the first instance of an element is displayed and exported. For example, if we have multiple occurrences of dc:identifier only the first one will show and be exported. We would like all instances of each element to be included - perhaps with a separator like a semi-colon (or something else).

  10. Use .LOCKED file or similar while IE export is still in progress

When exporting large IEs with multiple REPs, it is hard to tell whether the export is finished or not. This becomes especially problematic when running an external automatic job which pulls IEs from the export directory before export has actually been completed.
It would be beneficial to flag a partially exported IE, e.g. via a .LOCKED file which is deleted once the export is complete.

  11. Changes to "Find duplicates job"

Right now the "Find duplicates job" only checks a handful of elements for duplicate values. I would like to either ask Ex Libris to make the fields that it is searching configurable or to add original file name to the list of elements that are searched.

  13. Create task/job for adding/updating file-level metadata

I know I can add file-level descriptive metadata (DC) individually to a file in the back office or use the web services to do that for many files at once, but I want to be able to add metadata to a batch of files using a process in the back office. In my case, I would be adding the same DC record to a large group of files but I can also see the need to have a different DC per file so I would send Rosetta a bunch of DC XML files - one for each file PID, similar…

  14. Scheduled Reports with Institution in Email-Header

When Scheduling Reports for different Institutions, the Email received does not contain any information about where the Data comes from. If you want to know IEs in permanent, you would not know wheter it is about Institution A or B. It would be great if the Institution or a custom information-text-content would be sent either with the email or be included in the report itself. The Report in my special case is "Repository Stats" in "Data Management".

  16. Recalculate fixity SHA2 and insert into Rosetta

We have around 22,000,000 files that we would like to recalculate a new fixity hash, but this time it would be SHA256. We need a good way of getting this fixity back into Rosetta. We would like to store it along with the SHA1 value we previously generated. We are aware that the SHA1 fixity is located in xml clob data in the hdemetadata table. We are wondering if there is another location for this SHA1 value in another table.

  17. Small change to Create Derivative Copy task

Right now when you use the Create Derivative Copy task you have to select a plug-in type (either Transformation Profile or Stream Handler) even in cases where you are not transforming anything - we create derivative copy representations that are exact copies of the preservation master representation with no transformations. I would like to have a 3rd radio button - something like "None" - added. Since we're not selecting any file formats and we are choosing "Copy other extensions" the system is doing what we need it to do and we think it's odd to have to choose a plugin…

  18. Searching for Derivative Copies

As a Preservation System, Rosetta does not record any detail relating to Derivative Copy content in the METS. This is not inconsistent with Digital Preservation philosophy, but it does mean that Derivative Copy contents cannot be discovered using a Search Query or API calls from external applications. This seems to conflict with Ex Libris’ spruiking of Rosetta as a DAMS, since all content within a traditional DAMS (including Derivative material) can to be searched and accessed using standardized queries. If the DAMS operability is going to be further developed in Rosetta, will Ex Libris add further functionality to discover Derivative…

  19. Save Set information for repeated Processes

Save Set information for repeated Processes

When setting up a recurring Process that uses a Set with different values each time, Rosetta does not keep a record of the Set values each time it is generated, so that you cannot Rerun the previous Process instances in History. We propose a change to the recording of Set metadata so that each time a Set is used, its values are stored, thus allowing a Historical Process to be rerun at a later date. An example is rolling fixity checks, wherein a different range of SIPs are checked each day using the same…

  20. File level access restrictions to be inherited from PM/MM REP to AD REP

we are using access restriction on file level for some of our items. For PM REP we can assign this automatically via task chain, but this approach does not work for AD REP (tasks cannot be used). Unfortunately when there are files in PM REP with access restriction, this access restriction is not inherited/copied to AD REP during the enrichment process. So we need to go to AD REP and manually add/change the AR for the files which need to have it.
It would be great if we have either have a task chain which would copy the file restrictions…
