    • Activation request for "Films on Demand"

When searching the Community Zone there is a record for Films on Demand (Humanities and Social Sciences Video Collection), but there are no portfolios (titles) attached to it. It's just a brief bib record.

We'd like to request an activated record (with items attached) for Films on Demand.

      • Add *before* directives in the new UI

While it's great that the new UI includes directives for us to target when we do customizations, we're generally limited to only putting things AFTER what we may want to manipulate. It would be good to have an easier way to inject our customizations before.

For example, I'd like to place some helper text before our Online Access tab on some items based on the PNX. Right now, I have to put the message below and then do some DOM manipulation. I'd prefer to avoid the DOM manipulation altogether.

Could the 'not needed after' date field that the patron sees when attempting to request a physical item using Primo become a required field?

          • Getit2 of PrimoCentral records lists irrelevant local resources (missing date check)

Records from Primo Central have a getIt2-Tab which lists print resources from local catalog for an article. The problem is that the publication date of the article and the listed resources do not match and therefore cause confusion. Think of an current article from a Journal and you get old volumes suggested from the library. Only print resources containing the article should be listed.
In other words: The function would be usable if the getit2 lists print resources with the same publication date.

Suppressing the get-it tab according to the documentation (http://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Knowledge_Articles/Remove_GetIT!_Tab_When_No_Print_Version%2C_Only_Electronic_Records_from_Alma) has no effect.

            The issues were…

              • "Did you mean" has no option for selecting, "No."

A librarian submitted the following question:

"If you do a search in the catalog for Andrew Lyght (he's an artist), you get the message "Do you mean Andrew Light?" and a whole bunch of results that have lyght spelled "light". There is no option to say "No, I mean Lyght."

I think the Google-like functionality of "did you mean..." is a good
direction to go in, but there needs to be an option to respond to that question, especially when what the catalog is guessing is wrong. Overall, this isn't a helpful implementation as it currently works."

                • [Primo] - frbr - improve algorythm - consider all keys and not only the first matching key

In Primo FRBR documentation is explained that (I added ** signs):
                  "
In the FRBRization process, the keys are compared. If a record has a matching key with another record, it is added to the same FRBR group. **Once a match is found, the system does not continue searching** for matches since a record can belong to one FRBR group only.
                  "
In our experience this may lead to false positives. When comparing keys between frbr candidates, the system should consider instead the whole set of matching keys, not just the first matching one. And for example do not group…

                  • Allow users to personalize default scope for them

Option to allow a Primo user to select which scope they prefer to work with when multiple scopes. Two possibilities - allow this to be set for as a saved option for signed-in users only, or allow this to be set as a cookie for guest users and be saved as a cookie on that computer. This could apppear as a "Personalize" selection.

This will truly empower users - e.g. if they don't want to see Primo Central results most of the time, they will not be hampered by the library's choice of "All" as a default scope. Or if…

                    • Allow combining of facets in the search results

Please create a way to view multiple physical library locations using the facets on the results page (e.g., see attached - General Collection and General Collection Oversize). Most electronic databases allows the user to hold down the CRTL key and select multiples, but that doesn't work in Primo. The 'Exclude' feature is nice, but it would be fabulous if Ex Libris could add an 'Include' feature. Please?

                      • Add a true "exact" search to Advanced search type

The available search types do not include a true "exact" search, where the results inlcude the query term(s) *and only* the query term(s). This type of search is very useful for one-word queries, especially when it is a common word. Using "begins with" in these situations can still result in dozens of results. We can construct a search, but it's not something the average user would know how to do, e.g.:

                        Title begins with intervention
                        NOT
                        Title begins with intervention?

This is a convoluted construction, and we'd prefer a true "is exactly" search type.

                        • Index Ebsco API "abstract" Results so they don't appear in Primo "Full-Text" Results

All Primo results from the EBSCO API are searched and displayed "on the fly," and there's no option to sort the abstract-only content from full-text in Primo results.

So even though our default in Primo is to display ONLY "full text" results -- Primo is returning EBSCO "abstract only" or "may be full text" links in our Full-Text searches. Our users are confused, and call us wondering why they don't have full-text access in our Primo full-text search results.

Finding a way to sort the Ebsco abstract-only content from the full-text content, so it's working correctly within the Primo search…

                          • Create link for patron to report issue with Primo Central Record

This idea comes from a ticket submitted by a professor last week regarding a journal article resource that was marked as "peer reviewed" in PCI incorrectly. She reported it to us and we reported it to ExLibris, but it would seem more efficient to include a link that could report the problem directly to ExLibris for PCI content. I imagine something similar to the "report an issue" link found in google books: https://www.screencast.com/t/BdLZo2tR6D

                            • Citation generator is inaccurate

The citation in the existing and new UI for books is not valid MLA or APA.

The PNX information that populates the citations is stored in a hidden mapping table that cannot be edited. For example, I can see that series information for a book comes from addata/seriestitle. Primo will use the entirety of the field in the citation. For this particular record, this is the content of that section:

                              Rowling, J. K. Harry Potter Ser. ; 2.

Likewise, book titles come from addata/btitle. For this record, this is the entirety of the section:

We're migrating well-formed MARC holdings with 85x/86x pairs but Primo cannot use them for generating displays. Instead Alma must run a job to copy that data into 866 fields for Primo to be able to display them. Primo displays should make use of standard MARC fields/subfields (our 15 year old current system's public interface can do this)

At this moment, lateral links are available OTB for authors and subjects; and can be implemented for local fields.
We ‘d like lateral linking to be a standard option for more fields like : ispartof, relation and unititle.
Use case is a series link in tab Details.

                                  • Remove or de-emphasize reference entries in Primo Central results

I was told by someone at Ex Libris that the only way to get rid of "Reference entries" (such as a single word definitions from a dictionary, or an encyclopedia entry) showing up at the top of search results, would be to de-activate the subscription to the source item (the dictionary).

This is upsetting. If you happen to subscribe to several encyclopedias and dictionaries that reference a term, the "Reference Entry" items multiply and crowd out the books and articles, which is probably what users are searching for.

We should be able to set the results ranking level for these…

                                    • Add 'search' feature in e-shelf

Users should be able to search for references in their eShelf lists based of any <search> field contents in the PNX and wherever the references may be (not sensitive to folders).

                                      • Set default language(s) in PBO

When managing the various mapping and code tables in the PBO, it gets complicated because I'm constantly having to set the language column. It would be great if we could have that narrowed by default to just the ones we need. To support multilingual institutions, it would need to allow for multiple defaults if possible.

                                        • Set default language in Primo Back Office

It would be useful if Primo Back Office users were able to set their own default language preferences (e.g. for content of the code tables) rather than have to select the language every time.
