  1. Return all hits for a language in advanced search

In advanced search when refining to language you only get a result if you have a search statement. It should be possible to get all records in a certain languge, both from pipes and Primo central, if you refine to a certain language in advanced search. As it works in Libris advanced search: http://libris.kb.se/form_extended.jsp?f=ext

    • Show the terms added to the patron's query by the linguistic features (i.e. stemming, synonyms etc.)

As default behavior, Primo not only looks for the patron's query, but enriches the original keywords of the user with additional terms, in order to improve the performance.

The system first tries to guess the language of the query, and then tries to enrich it, using a variety of steps described in the Linguistic Features section of the documentation: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Technical_Guide/120Linguistic_Features

For example, a query for the string: Birne
if recognised as German, is enriched with following synonyms (dictionary file as to March 2017):

      gluehbirne(normal),gluehlampe(normal),lampe(normal),leuchte(normal),leuchtkoerper(normal),haupt(normal),kopf(normal),ruebe(normal),schaedel(normal)

The point is that the whole thing is a blackbox for both the librarian and the…

      • Journals A-Z: Subject-indexing or discipline-indexing of titles

Librarians and faculty members alike would like the ability to search the Journals A-Z list by subject or discipline. This is available in SFX's A-Z/Journal Title Finder functionality, and would be highly useful in Primo as well. User Services and Teaching/IL Librarians would use it to create Subject Guides and other instructional materials, while Collections Librarians would use it to help in acquisitions decision-making. Faculty members would like to refer students to quick lists of discipline-specific resources, as well as use such lists for their own current awareness and professional development.

        • OAI Pipe date options to facilitate CONTENTdm automated harvesting

We would like our pipe that harvests the OAI feed from CONTENTdm to run automatically either weekly or monthly.

However it is a known bug with CONTENTdm that if the collection is large, and if a small date range is used with the OAI data feed, then the process is likely to hang. The current workaround with Ex Libris is to manually set the start date to 100 years ago, and then run the pipe.

The enhancement I would like is enhancing the pipe configuration to either add

a.) A checkbox which adds the option of not automatically updating the start…

          • Make Title Search in Journals A-Z Left-Anchored

When we search for a title such as "Science" or "Nature" in the current A-Z journal list, the search is not left-anchored and thus finding titles of this kind involves scrolling through several pages of results.

            • Display times in Back Office according to local timezone

Currently Primo Back Office displays all times according to the server timezone. This is particularly relevant to scheduled pipes. For smoothest operation these need to be coordinated with Alma jobs, which are scheduled against local timezones. Differences in daylight savings times mean we have to update our conversions between the two timezones at least twice a year.

Being a multi-tenanted environment, the underlying server timezone can't easily be changed. But my suggestion is to make the *display* of any times in Back Office depend on a configurable timezone. ie

              1) Allow institutions to configure a timezone

              2) Where times and…

              • Consortia environment; Provide inheritance for open access collections

At present, open access collections that are activated by the consortia account are not "inherited" by individual members of the consortium. Given the number of open access collections, and the possible number of consortia members, it can be a tedious task to activate a large number of OA collections for each member.
We would like to see that OA collections can be "inherited" as well, just like regular subscription collections.

                • Allow customization of "Show source records" feature

Since february 2017 relase, it is possible to display MARC record in UI, using "Show source records" feature. As this feature was very much in demand with our users and librarians, we are very pleased.

Unfortunately, the feature's look and feel doesn't live up to our expectations. In the attach file, you can compare the display our users are used to and the actual display of "Show source record". It lacks of clarity.

It would be great to be able to customize this feature's display in order to adapt it to our users needs and to preserve the consistency of…

                    • Session Timeout Warning

It would be most helpful if a 'Session Timeout' warning could be displayed a certain amout of time before the session actually ends. Included in the warning could be the options to 'keep me logged in' or 'log out now'.

                      • Integrate the Alma Digital Viewer into the Primo UI

I see a breaks in the user experience consistency with the Alma/Primo combination with the link to digital objects in Primo. The link is opening the Alma Digital Viewer and it's look and feel is totally different from the Primo UI. Primo is the interface to the customer. Please integrate the UI into Primo and let Alma manage the objects and the metadata.

What my webmaster is missing and criticising on the Digital Viewer page:
                        - it delivers the wrong favicon
                        - link behind the Alma logo points to the actual Digital Viewer page
                        - link behind the institutional logo…

Currently, URLs generated while using Primo can result in broken URLs based on the presence of spaces in information such as library names. A good solution would be to program Primo to dynamically replace spaces with underscores, resulting in non-broken URLs when doing things like copy/pasting into an email.

Linguistic features ( https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/Technical_Guide/120Linguistic_Features ) may be customized by the systems librarian, for example removing or adding synonyms. But these changes affects only the results coming from the local index (i.e. the index built with records coming from the library's pipes for the catalogue, the institutional repository etc.). Primo Central (PC) records are not affected: for PC records the query enrichment is run separately and using the…

                            • Primo New UI : Allow OTB ordering of full record display sections

The New UI does not allow libraries to easily configure the order of the sections in the full record display.
We would like an Out of the Box solution to re-order the full record display.

For example: We would like to move the ViewIt section to the top, and move the Actions sections to sit after the Details section.

                              • proximity search operator for fulltext search in Primo Central

A strong argument for a discovery index compared to a bibliographic database is the incorporation of full text in the index. I have not found an actual number or a percentage how many Primo Central collections are full text searchable. But we all know: it is significant. Since this year all Primo Central searches will always expand to full text.

                                  • Allow configuration of multiple email addresses in back office

In primo's general configuration, there is a field for a staff email address. This address is used for emails which are generated by primo in response to an issue (e.g. when an IP is automatically blocked because it is suspected of being the source of a DoS attack) and is also displayed to users of primo when an error page is shown. We would ideally like to be able to send these to different email addresses so they can be processed differently. We have received feedback that clients often do not use or even see the “Show more items” link and tend to only look at the status of the five copies that are displayed by default rather then click through to view all copies. This becomes problematic when all five copies that display on the full record by default are…
