  1. Search Limiters for Accessibility Features

As a cataloger, I would like to propose a new option to filter search results for items with accessibility features (captions, audio descriptions, large print, etc). We are in the process of adding 041 subfields (mostly p and q), and 341 and 532 fields to our records in order to help users more easily identify items intended for those with hearing or visual disabilities. Ideally, this feature would utilize that input based on the presence of indicators in the 341 or 532 fields (i.e., 0 and 1) or controlled vocabulary terms to create search facets or indications (similar to the…

  2. Collection discovery - sub collection searches

We welcome the enhanced searching on the top level of collection discovery however we have found we also need full searching over our nested sub collections. This is not only useful for users of PrimoVE but also for local data scopes as we require them to accurately include sub collections in search profiles.

  3. Purchase Request - only allow certain users to put in a request if identifier finds a match on our holdings

If a purchase request finds a match on our holdings, it will warn the patron of it existing on our catalogue and provide a link to view the record, but still provide the option to submit the request afterward.

Would like it so the option to submit request can be made hidden from certain groups of users (Display Logic Rule?). i.e. Make it so Students won't be able to submit a request if it exists on our holdings, but still allow it for Staff

  4. Searching in the collection discovery: exact search terms

In connection with Collection Discovery, a question has come up regarding usability:
Why is a search of exact search terms set and can we change this?
Example: Searching for the search term "kalender" in our sub-collection "Abschlussarbeiten Buch- und Medienwirtschaft und Publishing Management" of the top level collection "Abschlussarbeiten" does not return any hits. If you search for "kalender*", no hits are found either. However, there are a total of 2 titles with "kalender" in the title.
Can this behaviour be changed/improved? It makes it difficult for our users to access available media and they think we don't have anything…

  5. Send an automated confirmation email after a booking request has been successfully placed

Currently Primo has a nice feature that allows patrons to book items after they log in to their library account. It is called booking request in Alma and Request Item in Primo. We use it to let our patrons book equipment. However, it doesn't send out an automated confirmation email after a booking request has been successfully placed. We request to have this feature (i.e. the system sends out an automated confirmation email to the patron after a booking request has been successfully placed).

  6. Purchase/Resource Sharing request forms - autofill details with ISBN

Would be very handy for end-users to be able to use the ISBN to autofill the details of an item on the generic Purchase request/Resource Sharing request forms.

At the moment it only autofills the details if using the request form on a Primo record (as it uses the metadata from there), or by using DOI/PMID on the Resource Sharing form.

  7. Enable the Hebrew Acronym file in CDI

I would like the Hebrew Acronym file to work in the same manner for local and remote records and enable the correct retrieval of records with any of the many Hebrew words that are comprised of initials (eg פלמ"ח, תנ"ך, תשנ"א, אדמו"ר, בג"ץ, רמב"ם, מפא"י…….).

Currently, searching a term either with or without the " sign will retrieve the term both with and without the quotation sign (") but ONLY for local records. Until this will work in CDI, many remote records will not be retrievable when searching terms that can be written in both ways (with or without the…

  8. Support html in GES public notes in How to Get it section

We are considering moving a couple of our general electronic services from the "Links" section to the "How to Get it" section. However HTML tags in the public note are not recognised when we change it from Links to How to Get It.

    See cases: 00987379 & 00987406

I would have expected that public notes should always support HTML tags as they are exposed publicly via Primo.

https://www.screencast.com/t/v3OGDhcrDG5j - illustration showing that <b> tags in the Links area make text bold, but encoding is displayed int eh How to Get it section.

  9. Field Pickup in Resource sharing form with default to leave blank

Now in the Pickup field, the first library in alphabetical order always appears by default. Many users click ENTER without having correctly filled in the Pickup field.
The best thing is that this field, even though it is mandatory, by default remains blank in opción, to force the user to choose.

  10. Include item copy id in OpenURL

We use OpenURL to pass request information from Primo VE to Aeon. Currently OpenURL cannot include item copy id (see case 06436874).

Item copy id is "used to identify individual copies of the same title when multiple copies exist at the same location".

This is important for our special collections libraries, because they often have multiple unique copies. For example, copy 2 may have annotations by the author and thus have specific importance to researchers, compared with copy 1 which is not annotated.

  11. Primo May 2022 Release: Display Multiple Links in View It

This feature offers the possibility to show more fulltext links in three sections:
    (1) CDI "Subscription" links
    (2) Alma iframe with Alma portfolio links
    (3) CDI "Open Access" links

However, currently it is not possible to configure the display of these sections.

Please think about the following improvements:

Possibility to display all link sections automatically instead of only showing the first link section and a "Show more" option for the other sections (see attachement).

Possibility to decide to display both new link sections (additional CDI "Subscription" links, additional CDI "Open Access" links) or only one of them.
    If you have…

  12. More thumbnail source options or additional parameters needed for Primo VE

Would like the ability to either pull from CDI source fields for thumbnails for example the way the CDI for Naxos can use {{control/sourcerecordid}} to build the link for online access. We need to be able to use this same field to pull in the thumbnail automatically. Alternately or in addition another option would be to allow additional logic from another Marc field to determine whether a field should be used. e.g. Use 035a for $$LinkingParameter1 IF 040a = Naxos.

  13. Filter for which record types, local or community zone, you want to generate the hypertext.

When working with Community Zone records, we see that linking tags, such as 776, appear in Primo in the Related Titles option, and the resource it links to does not return any results. If we deactivate the hypertext link for related titles, the links that were from our records and that are correct would also be affected. We suggest that you can somehow filter for which record types, local or community zone, you want to generate the hypertext.

  14. Main menu on desktop - let us decide how many links to show

    Hi

On desktop, the main menu shows 6 links and then "..." to show the rest.

On desktop, there would be ample space to just show all the links instead of hiding some of them.

    https://utk.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01UTN_KNOXVILLE:01UTK&lang=en

    https://union.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01UCNY_INST:01UCNY_INST&lang=en

    https://nait.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01NOALTECH_INST:01NOALTECH&lang=en&sortby=rank

    https://col-westernsem.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01COL_WTS:WTS&lang=en

On the other hand, maybe a library wants to hide some links behind the "...", but wants to show fewer than 6 links before the dots.

    Please make this more flexible.

    Thank you
    Manuela

Our own main menu is at 6 links at the moment, but we plan to add more links https://basel.swisscovery.org/discovery/search?search_scope=UBS&vid=41SLSP_UBS:live&lang=en

  15. Change the normalization rules for local resource type book

Change the normalization rules for local resource type book and create a new publiction type called Monographic series. The OTB rule in Primo VE is (Leader(06-07) = ac or ad or am) OR (Leader(06-07) = ab|ai|as AND 008(21) = m): https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/Primo_VE_(English)/120Other_Configurations/Mapping_to_the_Display%2C_Facets%2C_and_Search_Sections_in_the_Primo_VE_Record
This rule should be created for Monographic Series:
    (Leader(06-07) = as AND 008(21) = m)
We also think that ExL should reassess their rule and exclude this part: (Leader(06-07) = ab|ai|as AND 008(21) = m) and set up a new rule for monographic series (check:https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd008s.html). The codes for ‘ai’ and ‘ab’ are so rare we think they…

  17. One index in Primo VE for browing call number

Currently, call numbers with different call number types must be browsed separately, using different call number indexes.

It will be beneficial for both library staff and clients to be able to Browse only one call number index (combining different call number types in the one index) in Primo VE without having to think about which index their call number belongs to.

  18. Ignore 022z when linking to physical holdings

A journal has been accidentally misprinted another journal’s ISSN once and the wrong ISSN is included its bib record in 022z (I believe this description is correct according to MARC21 rules). CDI records of articles with the ISSN in question shows the wrong journal holdings with the ISSN in 022z, because CDI makes a Get It link by not only 022a but also 022z. Because of that, patrons cannot see the correct journal holdings. We think it is necessary to ignore 022z and see only 022a when linking physical holdings.

  19. Preferred record for dedup and frbr to also apply to list of versions

Following the implementation of an earlier idea exchange item that Primo VE should allow to set the preferred record for dedup and frbr records, we would also like this setting to be used for records that you get when viewing the list of versions.
What we are seeing is that only the top level in the brief results applies these settings, but when you go into list of versions to find a specific edition, you then might be presented with either record as the preferred record if you hold both e and print for this edition.
    This is what ExLIbris…

  20. google books

With Primo BO there is the possibility to provide patrons with a link to Google Books. This is very useful to access ancient prints that have been digitized by Google Books.

This functionality is currently not available in Primo VE. It would be very useful if it could be developed by ExLibris.

    Thank you.
