  1. Resource Recommender

Resource Recommender - It would be great if we can get information on which resource recommender is being used in number of times. For example - we have resource recommenders for the New York Times - would like to see if the resource recommenders for this specific resource are being used. We were hoping to gather that the kind of detail.

    Thank you

  2. Add ability to save a record with a label while in the full record (Saved Record with label to My Favorites)

I'm a student reviewing a list of results in Primo for a new assignment. I only have a bit of time right now to start my research, and in this first session I want to save articles which look like they meet my topic. Then I plan to come back on another day when I have more time, to do more detailed assessment of the articles I saved, read the full text, and start writing my assignment. I'm using a label to organise the articles in My Favorites, because I have quite a few topics for several assignments due in…

  3. Primo does not work with some date formats used for old material and rare books.

Primo does not work with some date formats used for old material and rare books. The biggest problem is that Primo only recognises 4-digit dates and does not accommodate date searches for pre-1000 dates that have 3 digits or less. This issue greatly inhibits searches for a significant number of users of archives and rare material collections.

Primo also does not work well with dates in square brackets that include text and unknown dates that have a question mark or dash instead of the wildcard character ‘u’ - e.g. [i.e. 1973], [between 1772 and 1802?], 195? or 195-. These are…

  4. Hide digitization button when items of a title are on loan / unavailable

We would like to suggest the option to hide the digitzation button when all items of a title are on loan / unavailable.
Currently, titles can be requested for digitization while all items corresponding to a title are on loan or unavailable, which can result in significant waiting periods between requesting a title for digitization and the fulfillment of said request.
Therefore, we propose that the digitization button only appears when an item is available for the title in question. This would benefit patrons, since they can assume that if a request can be made, it will be processed right…

  6. Collection discovery display shut off independent of collection path display

We would like the ability to have a collection not display with other collections in collection discovery but yet still have the collection link available in the collection path to give a results list for students of all items in the collection.

Just a toggle on or off for collection discovery display is needed. Right now, we have to suppress the collection to avoid display, but then it removes the collection path link too.

  7. Display snippets in brief results for physical records when search terms appear in formatted content (5xx) fields

It would be helpful for Primo VE to display highlighted snippets in brief results for physical records (like the full-text snippets for CDI records) when a user's search terms match on text that is in a formatted contents field.

For example, if a patron currently searches for the title of a volume within a multi-volume set (and the search terms used for that volume title do not match on any other fields present in brief results), the record for that multi-volume set will appear in the search results, but with no obvious indication as to why (although the matching search…

  8. Remove journal categories

Make it possible to remove or hide irrelevant HILCC categories from the Browse Journals by Category feature. Currently, trying to remove a category from the hierarchy leaves a gap in the visual display. Because the hierarchy has a very US-focused perspective, many of the categories are not relevant for institutions outside of the US.

  9. Indicate the other fields in use for an advanced search in collapsed mode

When a user undertakes an advanced search and chooses dates, language or resource types, those limits are not shown to the user who may forget what they had searched for as they review the results.
The user then makes changes in the collapsed view and not realise that they need to expand it first to change those other fields.

At minimum there should be an indication that those fields are in use so they know to expand it again. Ideally those field selections should be shown in the collapsed view.
Screenshots for inspiration only. Design experts or community feedback welcome…

  10. Option to deactivate the Resource Sharing Request Service for records without physical item of electronic/digital services

    Dear colleagues,
this idea is for adding the option to deactivate the Resource Sharing Request service in Primo VE for some groups of records without physical item of electronic/digital services, without having to deactivate the Resource Sharing Request rule in Discovery Interface Display Logic.

This deactivation should be applicable only to local records (catalogued in Alma) and the single institutions should be able to decide if enable it or not.

We would like the same behavour that exists for Primo also for Primo VE (for example, indicating to Primo VE that when the availability is "no inventory" ILL must be…

  11. Display Logic Rules - Access Model

Add the ability to configure display logic rules based on access model of items. For example if the same title is available from one collection as DDA, but is UA in a different collection, display (or prioritize) the UA link.

  12. request

Place "request" link (i.e. physical item request) against availability locations as opposed one "request" link that currently appears against the whole availability section of a search result in PrimoVE. As Alma expects items from the same location to behave in the same manner, surely physical item availability in PrimoVE should opperate in the same way - here the "request" link should only appear against a location where all items are on loan and not against the full availability for all locations where physical items may be on the shelf and where a Library may not want "on shelf" requesting. The…

  13. Allow patrons to submit ratings on records

We would like our (identified) patrons to be able to add a rating on each record, for example on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. This rating would be saved and displayed to all users on the full display of the record. A facet would be then allow to select records according to their rating.

  14. Item policy translations

In Alma the Institutions have no possibility to add the translations for the policies. In multilingual consortia environments the only possibilities are to display in Discovery the policy description in English or to add all description translations in the same field. Neither these solutions are user friendly.
The translations should be distributed from the Network.

  15. Multi-select and Typeahead search fields (e.g. language)

Currently Primo VE only allows a user to select one language at a time via dropdown. This is a poor user experience that doesn't allow users to multiple languages at once, and makes the dropdown more difficult to use as more options are added to it.

Having an interface where the user can select multiple items at once as well as type to suggest a language will allow more flexibility for users researching items in specific languages

  16. Make persistent search history opt-in instead of opt-out

Make Persistent search history an opt-in instead of opt-out when enabled by a library.

If a library enables the persistent search history in Primo VE, the feature is automatically turned on for all patron records. It would be helpful if patrons who would like to use the persistent search history feature could choose to opt-in to it instead of requiring users to opt-out of it.

  17. Extend subject heading display masking to CDI records

Like many other institutions, we have used the subject display normalization rules for display to mask offensive subject headings with more preferable terms.

However, these changes do not impact the CDI records. We would like to see the changes we made in the subject display masking apply to the CDI records, whether through the same rule or through a new configuration option specific to CDI.

For reference: If anyone is interested in our documentation to see examples, it's available here: https://connect.library.utoronto.ca/display/CAUG/Subject+Masking+-+Go+Live

  18. Allow themes to overwrite/override SASS files

One of the biggest difficulties when theming Primo VE is getting link, background, and search bar colors consistent across the different page types. Because the underlying theme uses lighter and darker variations of colors, just editing the color file isn't enough. This leaves us looking for every variation of selector using browser inspect tools, which is time consuming and very hit-or-miss.

Being able to override the SASS, even if it's only for the complete list of color and font selectors, would be extremely helpful and make theme development more clear-cut and efficient.

Related: Esploro Portal - Enhance color settings, https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/929326-esploro/suggestions/45208306-esploro-portal-enhance-color-settings

  19. Search Limiters for Accessibility Features

As a cataloger, I would like to propose a new option to filter search results for items with accessibility features (captions, audio descriptions, large print, etc). We are in the process of adding 041 subfields (mostly p and q), and 341 and 532 fields to our records in order to help users more easily identify items intended for those with hearing or visual disabilities. Ideally, this feature would utilize that input based on the presence of indicators in the 341 or 532 fields (i.e., 0 and 1) or controlled vocabulary terms to create search facets or indications (similar to the…

  20. Collection discovery - sub collection searches

We welcome the enhanced searching on the top level of collection discovery however we have found we also need full searching over our nested sub collections. This is not only useful for users of PrimoVE but also for local data scopes as we require them to accurately include sub collections in search profiles.
