  1. Extend subject heading display masking to CDI records

Like many other institutions, we have used the subject display normalization rules for display to mask offensive subject headings with more preferable terms.

However, these changes do not impact the CDI records. We would like to see the changes we made in the subject display masking apply to the CDI records, whether through the same rule or through a new configuration option specific to CDI.

For reference: If anyone is interested in our documentation to see examples, it's available here: https://connect.library.utoronto.ca/display/CAUG/Subject+Masking+-+Go+Live

  2. Add ability to save a record with a label while in the full record (Saved Record with label to My Favorites)

I'm a student reviewing a list of results in Primo for a new assignment. I only have a bit of time right now to start my research, and in this first session I want to save articles which look like they meet my topic. Then I plan to come back on another day when I have more time, to do more detailed assessment of the articles I saved, read the full text, and start writing my assignment. I'm using a label to organise the articles in My Favorites, because I have quite a few topics for several assignments due in…

  3. Local Resource Type on IZ-Level with local extensions

I would welcome a possibility to create local resource types on Institutional Zone level using local extensions, for example: MARC 980 $a. In other words: change the resource type to a certain value when a string in 980 $a is available.

By now it is only possible to create local resource types when all necessary data is available in the network zone - local extensions are not available there as they represent extra data for local needs only.

  4. Add Popular search category - User Statistical Category

Primo Analytics currently offers Zero search (daily, based on user group) and popular serach Hisotry (monthly, based on user group)

I want to be able to extract the User Statistical Category required for analysis, if not the entire data.

  5. collection discovery

Currently grid items in Collection Discovery can show title, resource type and thumbnail. We would like to add creator/author and or creation/publication date if possible. My suggestion is to add configuration for changing what is displayed in the item grid elements in Collection Discovery.

  6. Support the use of wildcards within phrase searches

At present, the use of wildcards within a phrase search is not supported in CDI. This functionality is supported when searching local records only but does not work when searching CDI or using a blended scope. Since the goal of discovery is to provide a single point of access to local and remote collections, it follows that both indexes should support the same search functionality and operators.

  7. Indicate the other fields in use for an advanced search in collapsed mode

When a user undertakes an advanced search and chooses dates, language or resource types, those limits are not shown to the user who may forget what they had searched for as they review the results.
The user then makes changes in the collapsed view and not realise that they need to expand it first to change those other fields.

At minimum there should be an indication that those fields are in use so they know to expand it again. Ideally those field selections should be shown in the collapsed view.
Screenshots for inspiration only. Design experts or community feedback welcome…

  8. Add due dates to Email Record Template

Under the Loans section in Library Card, users can export the list of their loans via email. The email contains names of loans, but not their due dates.

Could due dates be added to the Records Email Template, so the users can see their loans due date in the email export?

  9. New tool 'Give us feedback' - allow files to be uploaded

It would be helpful if the new 'Give us feedback' widget allowed users to upload files when reporting issues. Our current in-house widget allows this and we have found it a useful feature.

  10. Add 12-Hour Due Times Display in Library Card

Currently, per a setting in Alma, due times in Alma and Primo VE can be set to display in the 12-Hour format (ex. 02/25/2023 5:45 PM PST). However, when a patron views their account in Library Card via Primo VE, due times display there in only 24-Hour format (ex. 02/25/2023, 17:45). Please have due times displayed within Library Card use the same format that is set in Alma.

  11. Advanced search: auto suggest synonyms when using "OR" in the search string

We would like to have the feature of auto suggesting popular synonyms when adding "OR" in the search string. It is a feature in EDS and we loved it!

  13. Support Indexing of Collection Type(Alma-D)

When adding an Alma digital titles, all Alma digital titles are indexed, so it takes a total of three days to be published.
It takes three days to update the primo collection lobby.

Please consider that only certain collection types or some collections can be indexed to reduce publishing time.

    • Support Indexing of Collection Type(Alma-Digital)
    • Enable indexing of a range between start and end values.(Alma-Digital)

  14. Searching in the collection discovery: exact search terms

In connection with Collection Discovery, a question has come up regarding usability:
Why is a search of exact search terms set and can we change this?
Example: Searching for the search term "kalender" in our sub-collection "Abschlussarbeiten Buch- und Medienwirtschaft und Publishing Management" of the top level collection "Abschlussarbeiten" does not return any hits. If you search for "kalender*", no hits are found either. However, there are a total of 2 titles with "kalender" in the title.
Can this behaviour be changed/improved? It makes it difficult for our users to access available media and they think we don't have anything…

  15. Allow the use of library location to hide hold or resource sharing requests in display logic rules

A use case scenario: we allow students to put a hold request (local request) on our equipment when it is all checked out so when the first one comes back they are notified. We also use the hold (local request) for users to request items we have in the library to be pulled and put on the hold shelf for pick up. However, we are part of a consortium so currently when one of our books/videos are checked out the hold and resource sharing links show up so an item could be held, which will take much longer than resource…

  16. Applying Group by Library function to specific resource type

The April 2022 new function to be able to group locations by library is great, though we would like to apply this only to journals.
For example, when three libraries each hold a certain book, turning on this feature will force patrons to extra click to see the items. Also, it is very inconvenient because availability is not displayed on the library (first appearing) list. We would like to apply it only to journals, as this would be effective for journals that have many volumes and separate locations.

  17. Ignore 022z when linking to physical holdings

A journal has been accidentally misprinted another journal’s ISSN once and the wrong ISSN is included its bib record in 022z (I believe this description is correct according to MARC21 rules). CDI records of articles with the ISSN in question shows the wrong journal holdings with the ISSN in 022z, because CDI makes a Get It link by not only 022a but also 022z. Because of that, patrons cannot see the correct journal holdings. We think it is necessary to ignore 022z and see only 022a when linking physical holdings.

  18. Resource Recommender

Resource Recommender - It would be great if we can get information on which resource recommender is being used in number of times. For example - we have resource recommenders for the New York Times - would like to see if the resource recommenders for this specific resource are being used. We were hoping to gather that the kind of detail.

    Thank you

  19. Translate coverage and licence labels for NZ full text services in IZ views

PrimoVEs in our network use 4 languages for the user interface - English, German, French and Italian.
Consortial and Open Access e-resources are activated in the Network Zone for all the IZs.
When viewing Full-text services from NZ in the detailed view in IZs, the coverage and license labels are not translated to the language of the user UI.
The absence of translation creates discrepancy for our users. The IZ FT services' labels are translated but the NZ services are always in English.

  20. Select languages for Primo VE UI that would be different than choices for Alma UI.

Currently all languages used in Alma (for staff) are automatically presented as the UI languages in Primo VE.

I would like to be able to manage the choices separately, so that we can choose to remove, or to add languages for Primo VE UI. Also, we should be able to sort the language choices in the order we prefer, based on the language in which the UI is open.
    Thank you for your support.
