1. Add block action for patron digitization requests in User Block Definitions

   The configurable blocked actions for user blocks in Alma are:
   01 – loan
   02 – loan, renew
   03 – loan, renew, hold

   It is therefore possible to configure that blocked users are not allowed to place requests at all.

   We propose a distinction between the different request types in blocked actions.

   Blocked users should be able to place hold requests, as it can be checked at the latest at the time of loaning whether there is a block, and users then have to take care of the unblocking (e.g. by paying fees) in order to be able to loan the item.
   Document delivery, on the other hand, would like to prevent blocked users from placing digitization requests, since there is no check for a block before the scans are delivered and therefore the service can be used permanently without staff and users being notified about the block.

   The configurable blocked actions for user blocks in Alma are:

3. Enhanced “In Transit” flow/functionality

   We encounter a lack of important functionality to efficiently follow-up on In transit requests (physical item requests to another pick-up location). We would like the functionality to be extended with the following additional features:
   1. A patron facing letter when the requested item is placed “in transit” by the owning library, so that the patron is better informed of the status of his request.
    We want to create a situation that once a requested item is being transported, there is in fact no way back and a fee needs to paid.
   2. To make it impossible for patrons to cancel their request in Primo once the requested item is already in transit or on the hold shelf in the pick-up location.
    We need a granular setup config to define the end user cancellation option in Primo based upon the status of the request.
   3. A letter to the owning library when a patron is cancelling his request in Primo, so that the owning library might avoid sending items that have already been cancelled.
    Context: multiple different libraries within 1 institution, and some of these libraries handle dozens of request per day based upon the request slip. This means:
   o It’s too time consuming to check the expired hold shelf for all items which are possibly cancelled…
   o A cc or bcc added to the cancellation letter is not an option, because this is an institutional letter and cancellation request letters will come in from multiple libraries… The ‘alert’ / letter needs to be owning library specific!

5. E-Resource Activation Task List trigger

   When closing a subscription PO line, associated e-resources are automatically added to the E-Resource Activation Task List to determine whether they need to be deactivated. It would be more useful if this were based on the "subscription to" date in the PO line, rather than happening when the PO line is closed. We often close a subscription order several months before the subscription officially ends, and we don't want to deactivate the portfolio until that end date. But we also don't want to keep them in the task list for months while we want for that subscription end date. The end date seems like a more reasonable time to trigger the deactivation task.

   When closing a subscription PO line, associated e-resources are automatically added to the E-Resource Activation Task List to determine whether they need to be deactivated. It would be more useful if this were based on the "subscription to" date in the PO line, rather than happening when the PO line is closed. 6. Display logic to hide services by user assigned RS library

   Allow Discovery Interface Display Logic rules to hide service Rapido Physical Offer based on user's assigned resource sharing library.

   In our instance, we have one default/generic RS library and several location-based RS libraries. Users are put in the generic RS library by default, then reassigned to a specific RS library depending on where they are enrolled. For example, a patron in Chicago would have the Chicago RS library assigned, while an online patron would still have the generic RS library assigned.

   We would like the ability to hide Rapido physical offers from users with the generic RS library assigned. Currently the only option is to hide by user group, but our user groups include patrons from multiple physical locations (and institutions).

   It would also be helpful to hide services by a user's assigned campus, though hiding by RS library would be the preferred solution.

8. Add Normalized Call Numbers to eBook & eJournal Analytic Reports

   Many academic departments ask for accreditation reports that count resources available for students. We typically use Library of Congress Call Number ranges from the OCLC conspectus to get counts of resources. The report runs well for all physical items. However, eBooks and eJournals (both ubiquitous to our collection) do not have normalized call numbers as a part of an analytics report. Therefore the counts of titles between a range of Call Numbers is not correct.

9. The "maximum renewal date" (max_renew_date) should be part of the fields that are provided by API

   The max-renew_date is viewable in Primo, but if you use another Discovery it can't be displayed because it is not provided by API.

12. SIP2 Kiosks should bundle loan/return notifications to a single notification

    Currently SIP2 connected self service hardware triggers a receipt notification for every single item that is loaned or returned. Would it be possible to package these notifications in to one email after the transaction is finished based on the configuration that it has been conducted on a self service circulation desk?

13. New Metadata Editor templates: editing template v. creating new record

    Previously, when opening a template in the classic Metadata Editor (MDE), a click on the template name from the list of templates would give a list of options, including creating a new record: there was no doubt as to whether you were creating a new record from the template, or editing the template itself.

    However, with the new MDE, clicking on the template name takes you straight into editing the template itself. Creating a new record from the template now requires a right click first to get to the options menu, but this is not at all obvious. It is very easy to think you are creating a new record, when in fact you have just destroyed the template.

    Please can we go back to the options menu appearing from a standard click of the mouse on the template name, and not a right-click. This will prevent much heartache in losing templates.

    A message on the blue banner at the top of the template to make it clearer when you are editing the template itself would also be helpful.

15. Add Workflow Note to Purchase Request Screen

    At the University of Cumbria, we have configured Leganto questions, and we are using it in combination with a Citation Processing Rule to create a purchase request in Alma.

    When we view the purchase requests in Alma, we see the "Requester note" as we have configured this to display. This works well but we'd also like to see the "Workflow note" as well on the purchase request screen as it contains information about the purchase (e.g. library, number of copies, etc.).

    The idea is for Ex Libris to allow us to enable the display the "Workflow note" on the purchase request in addition to the "Requester note".

16. Choose users affiliated to a particular library - Bulk Change Due Date

    Our situation is that we have 2 libraries (eg. Library A - Library B) in 2 different cities. Students affiliated to a particular library can borrow items (books, DVD, etc.) owned by the other library.

    The problem is:

    Eg. Due to COVID, library A closed and library B remain open, so students affiliated to library A can't physically return their books. I would like to bulk change due date for all loans of library A students.

    HOWEVER, if I choose 'Library A' in the field 'Library' of Bulk Change Due Date feature, Alma will change due date of loans related to items owned by library A, NOT loans of students affiliated to library A.

    Dividing a particular user group like 'Undergrad student' into 'Undergrad student - Library A' & 'Undergrad student - Library B' and then only select 'Undergrad student - Library A' in 'User group' field of Bulk Change Due Date feature will help, but dividing like that will make Term of Use configuration more complicated.

    It would be grate if I can choose the library to which users affiliated in Bulk Change Due Date feature.

17. Add institution address information to XML for Ful Transit Slip Letter

    When an item is placed in transit to another institution in an AFN, the institution name is included in the XML of the Ful Transit Slip Letter. However, no address information for the institution in included in the XML, so it's not possilble to add that information to the Ful Transit Slip Letter. SUNY has added resource sharing partner address info to our resource sharing shipping and return letters, and that has proven to be very helpful. We would like the address of the library where the item is held to be added to the XML for the Ful Transit Slip Letter to we can display that information on the letter.

18. Allow to define several local search indexes, including standard MARC fields

    Following the partial implementation of idea "Ability to search via free text MARC tag and subfields" (https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/17197337-ability-to-search-via-free-text-marc-tag-and-subfi) under NERS 2020 #6795, here is perhaps a more modest suggestion, that hopefully can be more technically feasible and still provide a large chunk of the missing functionality.

    Similar to the analytics "Local Param" concept, it would be very helpful if institutions were able to define 5-10 "Local Search Indexes", based on each institution's needs. These indexes should be able to include any MARC field or subfield, whether local or standard (and preferably also field combinations).

    Use case: In our institution, we would like to be able to search by the currently unindexed standard MARC fields/subfields of 300a and 506a, and perhaps also by 773 separately (without other fields interfering).

    Allowing every institution to search by any field/subfield is obviously very ambitious on a technical perspective. But is it possible to allow each institution to choose several key fields for indexing, that would most be helpful to it's workflows?

19. More humanity in the letters: add the name of librarians who take care of the requests

    Automatic processes in Alma make library staff save time and efforts, but also significantly reduce human interactions with patrons (very few emails are personally sent by librarians to patrons). Lots of Alma letters sent to patrons are nameless and only signed by generic service names like "Acquisitions Department", "Circulation Desk", "Library ABC" etc. (see @@department@@ in the Labels). Some staff members suffer from this dehumanization in the processes.

    We want to give a name and a face to a request when patrons get notified and would like to enrich some Alma letters with the name of the librarian who took care of the requests and add a line like for example "You have been served by: Jane Smith". Behind the librarian's name in the letter, the customer could create a link to the librarian's webpage, LibGuides profile pages, the University directory, etc. with the XSL template.

    For at least the last staff member who worked on the requests (item hold at the circ desk, digital material sent, item received/activated...), please add the following staff User information:
    - First name
    - Middle name
    - Last name
    - Preferred middle name
    - Preferred first name
    - Preferred last name
    - Primary identifier
    - Job category
    - Job description
    - Website URL
    in the XML of the following Alma letters:
    - Document Delivery Notification Letter
    - Ful Cancel Request Letter
