Authority jobs & authority control task list - ability to exclude certain categories of records from authorisation
Some records are necessarily brief and are not fully catalogued, for example records for Resource Sharing requests, and new records for items that are On Order and haven't yet been catalogued. We would like to exclude such records from the authority linking process and from the Authority Control Task List, to ensure that the Task List only includes records that we really do need to check. If the authorisation process could be configurable to allow us to exclude categories of records, the Task List would be a much more usable feature in Alma.
The Authority Control task list is used to monitor and manage the authority control process in relation to the institution’s bibliographic records. It is now possible to facet authority control messages related to bibliographic records that are linked to the Community Zone, which is helpful when you do not want to monitor the authority control process for these records. See Using the Authority Control Task List for more information.
Ability to define events that should be reported separately is planned and will be supported in future release.

There are several improvements already done and several more we are planning to provide improved task list experience .
Already done:
1. Filtering the Authority Control Task List (June 2018)
2. Authority Control Task List Filters and Facets (July 2018)https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/010_2018/Alma_2018_Release_Notes?mon=All
Planned:
1. Filter records linked to the community zone in the Authority Control Task List (August 2018)
2. Authority Control Task List: Add option to define events that should be reported separately (Planned)
3. UI change - support multi select and exclude for facets (Planned) -

I wonder if it would also be good to have the option to exclude all 130's and 730's from electronic resources. I find that these are never established with authority records, and it's a waste of my time to check them. Perhaps they should be established someday.

The ACTL should allow to select the tasks from the Institution Zone records and exclude the tasks from the electronic records from the Community Zone. Thank you.

Agreed. It would be great if we could select only the tasks from the Institution Zone records and exclude the tasks from the Community Zone. It would also be great to be able to sort the field column e.g. to find all of the 084s or other fields that you don't want to work on and select them all / dismiss. Or better still, the ability to be able to set the fields that you do want to look at.

This would be especially useful if Community Zone records could be excluded or at least identified, so they could be ignored.

Agreed! We would spare so much time and effort if such brief records could be excluded from the Authority Control Task List job. Thanks for the idea!

Although we are still to activate the jobs on the Authority Control Task List, this would seem to be a very useful enhancement and one which would save you having to pick through lots of unnecessary updates. A preliminary look at these jobs indicated a lot of reporting on temporary records.

At my library we are doing lots of weeding. Some of the records have run through the Authority Control Task List and were subsequently deleted. It would be really great if deleted records could be automatically dismissed from the task list without human intervention. It would save me a lot of time.

This would be excellent. Probably at least 95% of the records on the review tab fall into these types of categories for me. We also have brief records created for some reserve items that it would be helpful to exclude.

Hi All,
we do have a NERS Request (#5396) to have more configuration for ACTL, and would encourage those interested in this idea to vote for this.
Kind Regards,
Amin -

I have run out of votes but want to add my support to this idea.
