Opening hours of the library in Alma and renewing in Primo
Circulation desk librarians want to make a distinction between library opening hours in Alma and service hours in Primo so users can still renew items on loan in Primo that day after closing time of the library.
Some libraries close at 5 PM. The due hours of the items loaned in these libraries are thus 5 PM. But in fact the student should be able to renew his items until the end of the day, which is 11:59 PM in Primo.
We have also configured that for students there is a patron limit of max overdue = 0. Which means that there is a block on the student record from the moment he has 1 item overdue.
When the student has items due on 05/11 - 5 PM and he is logged into Primo at 5:05 PM he can no longer renew his items because of this block.
So make it possible to have a distinction between the library opening hours in Alma and the Primo service hours, or create the possibility that the grace day takes this into account so that the items still can be renewed until the end of the day.
As part of Alma June release, The Closed Library Due Date Management policy now includes new values to support keeping the original time and change only the date if the due date falls on a closed day.

So, would new Closed Library Due Date Management options for 'Move to next open day (same hour)' and 'Move to previous open day (same hour)' be a solution ? These options would move the date if it is on a closed date, but leave the calculated time, which may be 23:59 as per the due date policy.
Thanks,

Hi,
the due time policy conflicts with our Closed Library Due Date Management, which is on “Move to the end of the next open day”. With every loan Alma immediately dues on the next open day because 23:59 is officially outside of our opening hours. And the Closed Library Due Date Management should be on that option, because otherwise we have due dates on closing days.

Hi,
You can configure the due time policy to be 23:59, see http://screencast.com/t/B3Ss3ajoI . In this example a two week due date policy is set to be due at 23:59, regardless of the library closing time. Only if the due time is left empty will the system default to the library closing time.
