faster receipt printing
Don't use email for all print events. It's too slow for receipts and transit slips at staffed service desks. (Complex anti-spam engines and office365 hosted email typically adds up to a minute to email transit time.)
Instead, write some local software to act as a print client that talks back to the cloud. That way, you can bridge local networked printers across large sites, back to the cloud in a more timely fashion.

Alma supports new ways of printing. The Online Queue Printing doesn't require use of email based printing (see here for more details: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/050Administration/060Advanced_Tools/Printouts_Queue)
In addition, the print deamon which is installed locally, retreives printouts automatically and prints them to one of the printers connected to the local computer. definitely agree with Eirik, this is one of the biggest problem we currently have in our project, working with our IT team to get things printed locally (~30 USB receipt printers bought last year ...)

Exellent idea! This idea was posted in 2016, but still, we really need this.
