  1. EDI check in for print journals

    Alma documentation states that Alma supports the following Edifact message types – INVOIC, ORDERS, OSTENQ, ORDRSP, ORDCHG. However our old LMS Aleph supported an additional Edifact message type called DESADV.

    This allowed our serials agent, Ebsco, to check in our journals in on the LMS remotely via EDI once our monthly consolidated deliveries of print journals were despatched from the warehouse.

    Provided our prediction patterns matched the PIA line this worked efficiently. An example of EDI text is as below:-

  2. Add a checkout widget that can be accessed from the desktop

    The most common thing we need to do in Alma is to check out books, but we need to train our students and Circ clerks to go to "Manage Patron Services." What about some kind of checkout widget or even an entry in the main Alma menu that actually says "Check out" or "Check in"?

  3. Add a lock feature to prevent selected items from being withdrawn when running a job

    I envisage this as a simple checkbox within an item's record which prevents that item from being accidentally withdrawn. (A parallel exists in many photo editing software packages.)

    I also envisage this as being a property which could be engaged or disengaged on a set of items via a job.

    When running a withdrawal job, any such "locked" items which were not withdrawn should be listed individually in the job report so that the user can determine whether this was correct (in case an item has been accidentally locked by a user, for example).

  4. Add active link function to all fields where a URI in subfield u is valid

    Subfield u for uniform resource identifiers has been defined as a valid subfield in many bibliographic fields to provide automated access to electronic resources.
    As noted in the OCLC bibformats: "Subfield ǂu defined as the URI is valid in the following fields: 031, 370, 381, 505, 506, 510, 514, 520, 530, 538, 540, 542, 545, 552, 555, 561, 563, 852, 856, 880, 883, 884, and 956.   5. Add more options for ILL integration

    Adding ILLiad integration to Alma was welcome but also brings more issues into the system. For example - patrons are shown in their account via Primo that ILL loaned items are not renewable. They are but not via Alma. A customizable message for the Resources sharing library that would display in "My Account" saying "Renewable via ILLiad" would be welcome. We have configured ILLiad to send courtesy notices. Now that we have integrated with Alma patrons get two courtesy and "due today" letters because Alma cannot turn off letters for specific locations.   6. Have the option to turn off sorting for sets.

    Our OAC department needs to generate a packing list of items that are scanned in, in the order in which they were scanned. The problem is that after creating a physical items set via scanning, the set sorts itself, and the items are no longer in order.

    In addition, our Metadata Services department used to manage our corrections projects in Millennium by having a public set that everyone could access. Once the cataloger was done correcting the record, it was removed from the set.

  7. Alma RS - Lending - Ship item digitally - email address to be viewable & editable

    When Lending requests are shipped via ‘Ship item digitally’ staff cannot see the Borrowing library’s email address.

    Below is a specific case with a VDX borrowing library. However the case can be applied to other scenarioes such as when a borrowing library asks to have the request shipped to a different email address.

    Case:
    When a VDX Borrowing library has the VDX proprietary DocStore enabled and sends a Lending request to an Alma library, the DocStore email address is output in the email request field in Alma RS (docdellibrariesaustralia@vdxhost.com).

  8. Use NZ records for full text links in Primo search results

    There is an issue with full text links not appearing in the Primo record when the incorrect ISSN is in the 022$y field. If the incorrect ISSN is in an IZ record, the search stops there and there is no full text link in Primo when in actuality there is full text available from the NZ. Can the NZ records be used in this case, not just end at the "bad" IZ record?

  9. Field creation date by changes via API

    While changing a specific field in a user records via API the "creation date" should be changed only in this field and not in any other fields – which happens now – in order to be able to recognize the newest changes in a user profile.

  10. Analytics: Add item changed permanent location to events that are recorded (and timestamped) Physical Items Historical Events subject area

    Usage case: University of Wisconsin would like to create reports that inventory items that change permanent locations by date. Currently, a report that can inventory all items that were added to a permanent location from various other locations by fiscal year isn't possible. With the addition of item changed permanent location as an event that is timestamped such a report would be possible. For example, a report of all items relocated to off-site storage during the past fiscal year is a desired report.

  11. Online payment - Transaction ID optional

    Actually, when choosing Online as payment method, the transaction ID is mandatory. We would like it to be optional, for our staff to be able to validate a payment without having to fill out this ID when on the circulation desk.

  12. Improve 'Synchronize from CZ' job reports

    Sometimes, the information in the reports bears no resemblance to what’s in the CZ Updates Task List. For example, the 'portfolio linked to different bibliographic record' information isn't included in the CZ Updates Task List at all so you have to submit a SF case each time if you want to find out which portfolios were moved and which records are involved.

    It would be useful to have clickable counters in the 'Synchronize jobs from CZ’ job reports that take you through to the corresponding changes in the CZ Updates Task List.

  13. Add Note Option for Fines/Fees

    We have several short-loan items that our patrons check out, and these items often generate small fines that are difficult to track whether or not a fine is legitimate, or if there may have been operator error.

    For example, we circulate study rooms where a student may check out the room key, and a box of white board markers or a television remote. If the student returns the room key and white board markers on time, but not the remote, it's difficult to tell if that's valid.

  14. Do not automatically highlight search terms

    After completing a search in the persistent search box, the inputted text remains in that field. When clicking back into the persistent search box to edit this text, all of the text is automatically highlighted. This often results in accidentally deleting the entire search phrase when attempting to edit it slightly, or at the very least having to pay extra careful attention to click twice into the search box to un-highlight before editing. Removing auto-highlighting would streamline the process of editing searches and alleviate the frustration of many accidental deletions.

  15. Mapping of Rialto invoice data in Alma

    The freight charge in our Rialto invoices is being mapped to the "Overhead amount" field. We would like this to be mapped to the "Shipment amount" field which seems more accurate. Ex libris have advised that this is hard coded and requires support from the user community to proceed.

  16. Lending Publication Date

    In Lending Analytics, the Publication Date field retrieves the date the Journal began publishing, and not the date the Article was published, despite the fact that the date in the Lending request is the Article's publication date. As a result, we are unable to check if we have supplied scans according to Copyright Law.

    Our libraries would like to have subfield $$g in field 773 indexed for searching in Alma, because it would allow to have more precise search queries including e.g. the issue number within a journal collection.

  18. Use Pieces field from item record to trigger a confirmation pop-up at checkout or return

    Use the Pieces field from item records to trigger a confirmation pop-up at item checkout or return when that item has two or more pieces. Taking measures for prompting staff to add notes manually item-by-item or creating sets and running jobs to populate fulfillment notes for items that have 2,3,...9,10,...39,40,... pieces are both impractical. Not having a pieces confirmation at checkout feature is a frequent complaint on the Alma Listserv.

  19. Deleting items on reading lists: notification when batch-withdrawing

    The recently-added “Alert of Associated Reading List when Withdrawing or Deleting Items” facility is very welcome. However, this only produces alerts when withdrawing individual items. Would it be possible to add this notification to the reports produced when doing batch withdrawals, otherwise this feature has only limited use.

  20. Clone PO LInes to order again

    We create different PO Lines for the same order. We need to put different funds, different reporting codes or order more items.

    There is no way to clone the PO Line as a way to keep all information and just edit the fields that we have to update.

    We need to clone and put the clone in review to edit the fields we need to change and send it to the vendor.
