  1. Searching ISBN and Multimatch handling of ISBN-matches

I think perhaps searching ISBN may be a little too sensitive. When I search ISBN 978 -82-93206-05-7 I get no result (no records found). When I remove the space and search this: 978-82-93206-05-7 I get one record.

When importing files (Repository - Import from file) and a record in the file has spaces in stead of hyphens or spaces in addition to hyphens, I get many multimatches as it seems to be a match for all ISBNs that start with the part of the ISBN before the space, but not for the real match. In other words, I get i.e.…

  2. Diacritics and special characters

In Voyager, I was able to enter diacritics and special character from the edit, special character option. This feature should have carried over to ALMA.

  3. Change the design or position of the search box on a set's Add Members screen

On the classic UI, when a staff member clicked on Add Members in a set they used to get a separate set of search boxes - with the "Find" box offering the choice of just one thing, e.g. Physical Items - into which to add the barcode or whatever else of the item they wanted. The persistent search box remained on screen, but had palpably nothing to do with the Set.

In comparison on the new UI, when a staff member clicks on Add Members they get a search facility which behaves the same way as its predecessor, but (i)…

  4. Add ability to see name associated with user ID in MD Editor

User IDs are visible in MD Editor for "Created by" and "Modified by", but unlike other pages, there is no way to quickly see the name associated with that ID. Currently, one must leave the record and search the Users index for that number to get the person's name.

There should be a clickable icon like you see on the Monitor Jobs screen that shows you the name associated with the ID.

  6. Search List: "All Titles" by "LC Call Number Range"

Search "All Titles" by LC Call Number Range. Currently you can only do that with physical items, although you can search "All Titles by LC Subject Keyword. Since most/many Electronic items do have LC Call Number in their MARC record 050 _4, I don't see why this is not possible...

As a collections librarian, it would be very useful.

  7. Support for browsing, sorting and display by LC classification/call number, regardless of format

I think Alma/Primo should strive to replicate a genuine browsing experience of the stacks as a feature. That functionality adds value to librarians and libraries (we can do things Google can't) and value to titles themselves, because they appear to users in a disciplinary content, part of a visible collection not just part of an aggregation / repository of searchable content.

Better system support for integrated shelf list of print and electronic resources and browsing virtual stacks would be a win/win. It would help librarians maintain strong visible collections (we need the information too) and would help our online users…

  8. Making it possible to use both arrow sign (←, →) as characters and Alma's directional character function.

When we configure [Alma configration > Resources > General > Other settings > enabledirectionalcharacters > true], "←" and "→" can't be entered in the MDE.

Also, if opening migrated records which include "→", all the "→" are deleted like the example below.

    Example)
    Before
    500 $$a 出版者変更: 日本ドクメンテーション協会 (-v. 36, no. 7 (1986.7))→情報科学技術協会 (v. 36, no. 8 (1986.8)-)
    After
    500 $$a 出版者変更: 日本ドクメンテーション協会 (-v. 36, no. 7 (1986.7))情報科学技術協会 (v. 36, no. 8 (1986.8)-)

It takes time if we modify these records and also we can't follow cataloging standard ("→" sometimes includes in a title etc. of a material).…

  9. Add fields to record historical valuation data

When rare books and other special collections are valued for insurance / exhibition / audit, it would be useful to add this into dedicated fields in the item record for physical inventory or other areas for digital titles. This way, a history of the value of the item can be recorded over time.

  10. IZ/CZ symbol display in Record View

Could “Record View” display the symbol to show whether the bib record is IZ or CZ? At the moment, you have to click on Edit and go into the MDE to find out which it is, which is annoying and time-consuming if you don’t need the MDE at that point for any other reason. You may have reached Record View from a route other than a search (e.g. activating an e-resource), so may not have seen the IZ/CZ symbol at a previous stage.

  11. Show in name of person who created the bibliographic record

When reviewing a bibliographic record in the record information section, the ID of the user who created the record is displayed but not the name.
It would be useful if Alma showed the name of the cataloger (and not the ID) currently it is necessary to search by ID later to know who created or modified a bibliographic record.

  13. Visual Indicators in sets

When you create an itemized set (as well as other sets), and then go to add additional members after saving, there isn’t a good way to know what you’ve already added while searching. It would be helpful to have a visual indicator that an item has been added to an itemized set while adding members.

  15. Expand the menu for actions on records in the NZ repository search results to include "link" in addition to "edit" and "order"

Currently, in order to link to a record you have to click on the title for the full record and then click on the "link" button. Putting the option to 'link' to a record in the initial search results would save some maneuvering of the mouse and a click.

  16. Expand options for repository search for item barcodes

It would be nice to be able to have more options in the advanced search when searching by barcode. Currently, the only options are "contains keywords", "contains phrase", and "is empty".

It would be useful to be have the same dropdown options that are available when searching on other identifiers, such as the MMSID. Specifically, the >, >=, <, <= options would be very useful.

Sample situation: I would like to create a set of all items that have not been moved to our new barcode system. Our new barcodes have 8 digits, and our old barcode numbers only have…

  17. In advanced searching in Alma NZ for physical titles, have results say: Advanced searching not performed for physical materials in NZ.

In advanced searching in Alma NZ for physical titles, have results say: Advanced searching not performed for physical materials in NZ Currently, results from this impossible search only indicate "No records were found," making it look like the NZ does not have anything, when in fact there may be many. Perhaps search options for advance searching in the NZ should not allow physical titles as a search option. Example: condition title= Wyoming, and condition material type= Map in the NZ results in nothing, but there are over 2k hits if searching All titles instead of Physical titles, some of which…

  18. Add indicators to IZ/NZ/CZ tabs in Repository Search results to show presence of bib records and local holdings

It would save time in cataloging, acquisitions, ILL, and reference if the IZ/NZ/CZ tabs included some sort of indication that there are bib records matching the search and, where applicable, local holdings attached to those records.

My thought is a simple count added after the tab title -- local holdings / bibs.

Additionally it would be helpful to shade or highlight the active tab, making it very quick to recognize in which zone you are working.

Finally, on NZ and CZ results lists, it would be helpful 1) highlight the local holdings so that they stand out more obviously in…

  19. Export URL with FTP

You can export the URL of Portfolios via Alma Admin -> Resource Management -> REsource configuration -> Configuration Menu -> Record Export -> Export URL
But you can not do this in a sort of batch job to feed your proxy with this URL automaticly (Case 223210)

  20. Add Editions link-type facility to All Titles Persistent Search results

When searching for a specific barcode using All Titles Persistent Search and the search result appears on screen, would it be possible for there to be a link next to the Edition statement (i.e. the 250 field contents) which links to the results for all editions of the title in question?

In addition, would it be possible for that link to the results for all editions to appear in the search results when Physical Items Persistent Search is used instead, even though there is of course no Edition statement shown in such instances?

There are many instances during the course…
