  1. Link to view record in Primo from Alma

When viewing a bibliographic record in Alma, we would like a link to appear that opens a new browser tab/window showing the record in Primo. For example, the MMSID could be hyperlinked, which would then perform a search for the record in Primo. This would enable quick identification of publishing problems between Alma and Primo as well as testing record display in Primo.

    • Ability to search via free text MARC tag and subfields

We would like to have an advanced search option that allows us to enter the MARC tag number (and subfields) for searching, in both bibliographic and holdings records. This would also require the option for keyword indexing of all MARC fields.

      • Ctrl-z/Undo in the Metadata Editor

Currently, there is no Ctrl-z/Undo function in the Metadata Editor.
        Please add this function.
        Use case:
A record is in draft mode and the cataloger deletes a field accidentaly, there is no way of bringing it back.
Or a cataloger works on an exisiting record, makes a lot of changes and only wants to undo the last actions, but not go back to the previous version.

        • Make 245 $p, $n, $s, $k, $f, $g part of "Title" resource description when viewing/editing holdings and item record details.

Currently when viewing a list of holdings or list of items (and editing them) for a resource/bib in Alma, the $p -- a part/section of a work is not displayed in the resource description for the title. All you see is the main title of the work (245 $a), not the sub-name designation of the part/section. You have no way of knowing which work you are viewing or editing, unless you know the call number specifically.

Example, I have 4 records that are all "The advertising red books" title, but each one is a different part/section of the work. If…

          • Add a "back to repository search" button to reduce the number of clicks

Frequently when editing bib, item and holding records, we are forced to press the back button multiple times just to get back to the results list of the initial search. We have to retrace every step just to get back to the original search screen.

It would be helpful to have a back button that does not merely retrace steps, but takes you back to the initial results list and repository search screen, thereby eliminating several clicks that add up to hundreds of clicks in a day.

            • Change Repository Search "Contains" to drop-down to enable searching "Contains Phrase", "Starts With", and "Equals"

In the repository search simple search, the only search operator you can use when searching available indexes is contains (e.g., FIND all titles WHERE title CONTAINS ____.

We would like to request that the CONTAINS operator be turned into an advanced-style dropdown menu to enable searches like this:

FIND all titles WHERE title CONTAINS PHRASE ____
FIND all titles WHERE title STARTS WITH ____
FIND all titles WHERE title EQUALS _____

In many cases, an advanced search is not required, it is simply the contains operator that needs to be modified, and performing an advanced search just to modify the…

              • Authority control task list - ability to exclude certain MARC fields and authority vocabularies

We would like to be able to configure or filter the Authority Control Task List so that only the vocabularies that we authorise are included in the list. Also, it would be useful to be able to exclude or filter out selected MARC fields from the list to make the list more manageable. At present the only way to filter the list is to export it to Excel, which means that you can't work on records directly from the list. A configurable or filter-able list would be much more user-friendly.

                  • Ability to delete items by scanning-in

At present items can be withdrawn/deleted in two ways:
                    1. Manually, an item at a time (or multiple items only if in same holding)
                    2. In bulk, from a set created either directly from search results or from a spreadsheet.
There is no way to rapidly delete items-in-hand.

A feature in Alma to quickly delete items-in-hand, in quick succession, with the same safeguards as when using existing deletion methods.

The attached document gives more details and a mock-up of such a feature - it would be a big bonus to those of us with a lot of weeding to do!

                    • Edit an authority record when cataloging a bibliographic record

Here is an enhancement request concerning authorities.

Currently, when cataloging a bibliographic record in the metadata editor, we can press F3 in a field to choose an authority.

                      Example :
MARC21 field 100 -> F3 to choose an author authority.

When pressing F3, the cataloger can :
                      - select an authority
                      - view an authority

I would like ExLibris to add a third option :
                      - edit authority

(for example : after clicking on "view" an autor authority, I want to be able to edit it to add a field 4xx)

Thanks for taking this into account!

                      • Ability to log 2 sets of dates on electronic portfolios - Perpetual and Current Access

Most publisher packages only allow perpetual access for subscribed years, post-cancellation, but they give you access to a much larger set of dates during your active subscription. For example, many of our Wiley titles have access back to 1997, but our perpetual access does not begin until 2003. If we could select both perpetual and current access for a title, and have the ability to log both sets of dates, that would be very helpful. Ideally, we would like to use this to do a broad overlap analysis between our print and perpetual electronic holdings.

                          • Authority jobs & authority control task list - ability to exclude certain categories of records from authorisation

Some records are necessarily brief and are not fully catalogued, for example records for Resource Sharing requests, and new records for items that are On Order and haven't yet been catalogued. We would like to exclude such records from the authority linking process and from the Authority Control Task List, to ensure that the Task List only includes records that we really do need to check. If the authorisation process could be configurable to allow us to exclude categories of records, the Task List would be a much more usable feature in Alma.

                            • Make more sort fields available in Physical Item Sort Routines

                              Functionality wanted:

Instead they sort alphabetically by month. Serial items published daily do not sort in correct chronological order, because the chronology field J is not an option in the Physical…

In some cases (actually quite regularly) we are facing the following problem in our Alma Network configuration. Using a normalization rule, we want to make bulk changes to a set of bibliographic records (stored in the Network Zone) where this set can only be built in the Institution Zone because the query uses search criteria from either localized fields in the bibliographic record or from the inventory (holdings, items, portfolio, …). Building the query and saving the set in the IZ is obviously not a problem but running normalization rules on NZ bibliographic records from within an IZ is. Non-localized…

In the brief results display in Alma, the Record Number field is extremely useful in all types of technical services workflows. However, at times a non-OCLC number is displayed in the Record Number field, even though the record contains an OCLC number. The most useful control number from any record is, if present, the OCLC record number.

It appears that the current behavior is for Alma to display the value from the last 035$a subfield in the record. Can we configure this field, or can Ex Libris modify this field, so that if an OCLC number is present in any…

Workflow would be greatly improved with an indicator for the activation status of e-collection when viewing the list of portfolios for a title in the CZ. This would be similar to the green dot display currently in SFX. Currently in the Alma CZ one is unable to detect if an e-collection is being used or not when looking at portfolios/titles. This would prevent an inactive e-collection being turned on by mistake.

                                    • Make it possible to add new individual titles/portfolios to a contributed collection (for which one has the ownership)

Current functionality for contributing an electronic collection to the CZ is a one-time action. Missing here is the functionality that the owner of this contributed collections can update it, i.e. adding new individual titles/portfolios.

                                      • Ability to create a set of holdings records in Alma

Currently in Alma you can conduct a repository search to create a set of physical titles (bibliographic records) or physical items (item records). Although you can do an Advanced Search of certain data fields in holdings records, there is no functionality to create a set of holdings records.

(You can create a set of titles or items and run the manual jobs: change physical items or change holdings information. Unfortunately, the set of physical titles include all holdings records linked to the bibliographic records (including holdings records you may not want to change). And you don't always have search criteria…

                                        • List of items - when have several pages of items on a holdings, return back to active page

I apologize if this has already been posted (I searched and searched and did not see it), but when viewing a holdings record with a list of items that have multiple pages of items (like 6-7 pages) - it would be great if Alma would default back to the page of items you were actively on, versus defaulting back to page one - every time you edit an item record on list of items page. I know that the lines on invoices that were several pages used to do the same thing (default to page one), but was fixed.

                                          Example,…
